Starting Issues??

I am having some starting issues with my 996tt. When I turn the key the car fires up fine but as soon as it starts up it dies, I do this 3 or 4 times until it finally stays on. I give it a lot of gas on the last attempt and it seems to stay on. Any idea what is wrong? Seems to be getting worse and happening every other day now.

How many miles on your car and how long since you changed plugs? Ever run any fuel injector cleaner through it?

34k on the odo, I just purchased it a month or so back, so not sure on history with maintenance. Never put any cleaner in it, how long do the stock plugs usually last?

futuregsoris -- if your plugs are possibly 34k miles old, might be time for new plugs (especially if you have an '01 with OEM FR5 plugs, or an ECU flash can also wear out plugs earlier). Could also be a bad erratic boost leak, but less likely if it runs fine after you get it started. I hope you get it sorted out (and as cheaply as possible too).

Is it OK to put cleaners such as fuel injector cleaner in our cars? If so, what brand do you recommend?
