I just took the whole thing off including the supports. they seem unecessary to me and about 25 pounds of fthe rear.
the engine still sits behind the frame.
you do end up with holes where the bumpers in the rear are.
I left mine alone for cooling vents which dont seem cosmetically appealing but you could fab up something to cover them or glue the bumper covers back on

mmmmm! Tom I thought about this one, but would feel really uncomfortable with no protection, especially around engine, I would say fine if your road and 1/4 mile track but not on a circuit track where the chances of running into Armco or a Tire wall is very high, what do you think?

I practice what I preach. I think that the *** of this car is too heavy. I have removed the entire exhaust system, rear seats and wiper, took the subwooofer out. and seemed like the only thing left in the rear weighing me down was the bumper which I am going to call worthless.

I have been driving this car for years on the track under race conditions and time trialing and open passing, not going to worry about missing a rear bumper.

I am not recommending this to others it is just what I personally have done.
PS the car loves the weight loss program and rewards with much more neutral handling.

Steve on your side of the pond do you even have rear bumpers??

Cool

Tom just out of interest in most lightweight matters you are a pioneer, so why haven't you gone to RWD yet, surely mainly on the track its night vs day ?

So if you take off the rear bumper mounts, do you lose the ability to mount the bumperettes?

So I'm guessing you are on straight pipes now then Tom if you took out the whole exhaust. How much do you weigh (car) then?
