Is this a good time to get an 03X50 PCCB?

Hello all,

I’m looking for a slightly used Turbo, possibly 03’- onward. I have few questions;

1. Does a chipped 03 x50 turbo w/ exhaust have same performance as a Stage IV?
2. Were there any upgrades for PCCB rotors or ABS software on 04?
3. Are PCCB front rotors for TT bigger than steel rotors?
4. Is this a fair price? 03’ TT 2000 miles, X50 + PCCB at 120K, certified.
5. Can I buy TT from a non-dealer and certify it later?

I don’t know if I should go for 05’ than paying 120K to get a two year old. I’d appreciate any suggestions.

Don't pay close to $120k, that's my first piece of advise. Second, I wouldn't buy an X50 unless the price difference is about $5-6k becuase that is all they bring on trade-in value. 3rd, get a chip and exhaust for like $3000-5000, and you'll have over 500hp. 4th, you can buy my old car if you want for $102.5k.
2003 Blk/Blk 911 Turbo, 8400 miles, in service date was May 28, 2003. You'll have 3 years and 41,600 miles left on the warranty. Car is perfect, no scuffs, wheel rash, swirls in paint, etc.

Thank you very much for the reply.
I've been a ghost member here quite sometime and yes, I already considered your turbo. I thought that it was 106K!! Actually I'm looking for something w/ less than 3K miles.

Oh, I must say I enjoyed reading your threads. You are one great contributor of the forum.

If I can get the X50 for 110K, will that be a good deal??\

Yes, 02 X50s are getting close to that price with low mileage. All the better if it's certified.
2002 X50 are not getting close to $120k with low mileage, high mileage, no mileage, doesn't matter.

A 2003 X50 Turbo wholesales for like $105-107k, a 2002 X50 wholesale for $95-97k and I just paid $116k for a brand new 2004 Turbo!! Not to mention the 2005 Turbo S has the X50, PCCB, a couple of interior enhancements, and that is costing $131k before any discount. No way is a 2002 or even a 2003 911 Turbo X50 worth $120k. As far as certified, forget, you buy a 2003 and you have a warranty until 2007. After that can always buy an extended warranty for far cheaper than what Porsche charges for certification.

That's what I exactly thought.

So if I can get a 03 x50 w/ PCCB at 110K now, it's an okay deal, but I should be prepared for taking a possible hit because of the new low price of "S." ...PAG should have made Turbo S as more special model

Probably I should wait a little. My plan was to get 03 and have it around for two-three years as daily driver. 997 turbo sounds great, but I know I can't wait two years.

LSM, do you think that there will be discounts on "S"s?

Thanks for the link!! I'll look into it.

$110k for a 2003 X50 is a good deal. If it has lower mileage(less than 6000), even better. You shouldn't take any greater of a hit than a non-x50 car as you are not buying it new. The guy who will take the biggest hit are those that bought 2002-2004 X50 cars brand new and got some options as they will be in for $145k+ and you could buy a similar 2005 Turbo S for $131k. Those are the guys that need to worry. At $110k I'd buy it for sure. You should check out the link I posted above, Arling's car has far lower miles than mine and if it only costs $3-4k more than screw it, may be worth it for the extra miles. Other thing you can do is lease or do a fixed value baloon for the length of time you want to keep the car. That way, they are obligated to buy the car at the baloon at the end of your lease or baloon. Then, no worries about depreciation, because you got your trade number guaranteed.

As far as discounts for the "S", I know I will get a discount for sure as I have a great relationship with my dealer, I send him business, so he gives me good deals.

It is silver/black, non X50, but, it also isn't selling for $110k. You should PM him, but, below is a link to pics of his car

Mine is for sale too...under 6K miles...check my sig for factory options and window sticker...I also added full alu look PCM kit from factory (sent parts to exclusive shop in Germany at Porsche factory), 2004 full electric sport seats, center lid bin with turbo embossed and a few other things. I am also willing to sell it stock or with mods...

Wow, I wonder why so many TT's are on sale

Arling: Your car looks flawless!! You should definately keep it <-- I belive this is what you feel about your turbo.

msindi: I tried the your link and it does not work. I'll try it later. Just curious, what is the reason that you're selling your beast??

Not anymore. I believe $115-125K figures come from a couple month old listings w/o adjusting price. Now we are maybe three-four months away from 05, and with the debut of Turbo S, 110K for 3yr old does not sound right.
