Offical 2005 Turbo S Picture Thread
[quote=robertp;1504062]The 996 Turbo S was produced in 2005 only (cab and coupe). Unless someone can verify that there Turbo S have a manufacturing date of 2004, I believe these number are incorrect. See the chart below that depicts a “Prior Year” column for “Year to date”. They should be zero. I applaud you for coming up with this data/chart. Keep up the great work and happy data hunting.
For your reference, my 2005 Turbo S has a manufacture date of Sept.,2004.

Do you have the following:
1) Turbo S on the Tachometer gauge
2) Turbo S on the door sills
3) Leather upholstered dash and doors
If so - then likely an S. That's about as far as my expertise goes!

Not all of them have "turbo S" on the tach gauge. If you got the silver dials, then yes, but if you got yellow or red dials (not sure about any other colours), then no, they just say "turbo" (I really must have looked at a LOT of cars B4 I purchased mine
). Also, if you got the stiched embossed rear storage cover, that too just says "Turbo" and does not add in the "S".Oh and about those PCCB's, you have NO BRAKE DUST, so your wheels are always clean!!
Love all The TTS's! Here is mine
Wayne at RUF say's I should keep mine stock since limited production and for future increased value. He thinks I should mod power on my 03 TT Coupe. What do you guys think?
You're already not stock (clear sides and 997 wheels)
.
I think you're ok with the mods, depending on what you're doing, and your desire to 'hold onto' stock parts. You bought it to drive or to be a collectible? If you bought it to drive, I don't think doing a flash/exhaust/coilovers etc is that bad. It's not like doing a bunch of engine internals. Then again, if you're talking to RUF, that's what you might be thinking. And I really don't think it's going to have much future increased value, a bit maybe, but not much (I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not banking on that).
TTS for weekends and an 03TT for a DD. Nice work if you can get it.
Oh, great looking car BTW.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my car, and to me (and probably you too), it's worth a lot, but 993's were rare (far fewer than 996's), and for some Porschephiles, there is a lot more cachet to the last air cooled 911 turbo than the first water cooled 911 turbo. Plus those fat *** flares on the 993 look so good
. Admitedly, the 993 turbo S was a special car, the range topper of 993s, and the 996 turbo S is a special car in the same way (although you could pretty much mod up a non "S" with the same options from the factory).
Pretty much everything from Porsche comes in a "S" model now. Does it lose some cachet because of it? At least with the turbo it's only in the last year of the model run. Give it time, maybe you'll be more right than me (I hope so).
