Check engine light came on...

I just filled my tank with gas, maybe overfilled it a little and this was after sitting in about 45 min of very slow traffic.
Anyways light comes on and the codes were
P1115 and P1114
what should I do?

Obviously the first thing is to find out what the codes mean......but periodically I get CELs for PSM and ABS especially after making a hard run. I've found that I just pull over, turn off the engine, restart it and they're gone. I figure that if something is really amiss, they'll come back on. There are a number of guys on this and other forums who experience periodic CEL gremlins....I had a couple that indicated "random misfires" on cylinders 2 and 5. It happened once then.....They just went away and never saw them again. I dont' think you need to run to the Porsche dealership every time a light comes on....if they're repeat events or the lights start flashing, then yes....time for the dealership. You can also go to AutoZone and borrow their reader and read the codes.

These are the codes that I got off the scan tool. I reset the ECU and the light has gone off. I guess I'll just drive it around and see if it comes back on.

Jay: That's what I do...reset them and go about your business. If they come back and then and hang around, then it's time to do something about them. I'm not a master mechanic, but I think that there are periodic hiccups caused by bad gas, fouled plug or whatever. If you call Porsche they'll scream "emergency" and make you an immediate appointment to come in . I'm not saying ignore it, but you know that they'll charge you to stick it on a PIWIS and find something wrong. I'm not suggesting you ignore potential danger signals...I just dont' believe that every CEL needs a run to the dealership.

Jaykla, P1114 is Bank 1 02 sensor ahead of cat not heating properly
P1115 is Bank 1 o2 sensor implausible signal.... you probably need an 02 sensor.

yup it's the driver's side pre-cat 02... If it's staying off for a while too that's a good indication.

Chuck you are right, obdII cars are so **** that half the time you get a check engine it is absolutely nothing...its a scam to get you to go to the dealer so they can plug in their reader into your obdII port and charge you 100 dollars to read the info off their screen.

This is a true case of what we hate about stealers...it takes less than 10 minutes (more like 5) to change a MAF...you can get MAFs for less than $300. It IS a DIY!

Bill: That's what I was thinking....I think you can get the Maf's from Sunset for under $300 and you unplug the harness, take out two screws and reinstall the new ones. Ah the sweet mystique of the Porsche.....make it sound frightfully complex and involved.
