Interesting Skidding Experience Today...
So whilst testing out the new ride height (more on that later) on the JICs, I took the car out for a quick test run before doing the final alignment. So there I am getting on it and attacking turns with some vigor when all of a sudden the car gets hella squirly through a pseudo chicane and the back end kicks out like I was on ice. I think "wtf over" to myself and bring the rear end back in a couple of times (no PSM etc..) and straighten her out, then continue going straight. I notice the temp gauge slowly creeping up (ok it's a hot day I think) and then the red light blinks and it says "Check coolant levels". Luckily I'm 100 yards from Akkarut so I pull back in and ask if they have any coolant since it's low for some reason. We are about to get started on the alignment and then look down on the floor and it's gushing with coolant (sorry for peeing on your floor guys).
At this point I'm scratching my head and houston we have a problem.... Off comes the bumper and we look at the center radiator hoses- everything's normal except the fricking drain plug is missing. Oops. So I feel a couple of feet back and sure enough the plug is hidden back in there. The little bastard just popped out before I took that turn and spewed some lovely slippery coolant all over my r-compounds to make things interesting.
Anyways, the moral of the story is watch out for that pesky drain plug. It's a rather shoddy design with this silly metal clip that can be turned rather easily (if knocked with your finger for example whilst changing out a GT2 bumper). Hence be careful because once knocked to the side it_will_ pop off under pressure.
I was told that's another reason why water cooled race cars use erm.. water and not slippery coolant

Hehe no worries. It was scary. I took that same turn today a bit slower just in case... So far so good.
I'm also using water wetter instead of the usual coolant. Isn't quite so slippy if it ever does pop out;0
