I have a simple and straight forward question
Yes Good one +1, Heres another one..Why do the 65K out of the 1Meg have to be uploaded to Softronics server? I here from a knowledgable source that the 65K are the main files that are needed..Aren't the files Propprietary afterwards
. This is a complicated thread, just trying to understand! If so this server is worth a few Benjamins
..I am NOT saying that Softronics would use or sell proprietary tunes..

I believe that I answered all the questions and other ones as to who does the writing and how it is done. Those were asked a few pages back.
The system is used by many tuners or companies and they all seem OK with it. I guess if any of them thought that their files were being compromised then they wouldn't use it.
There are always the people that think Elvis never died and if working at Dunkin Donuts, UFO's are hidden by our government and JFK was assassinated by the mob or whatever.

I'm going to take a Holiday from this site.
Best to all
In all honesty we are questioning this to death. Your source needs to do some more work with the files. The section is not the magical part of a 996 or 997 file or any other Porsche map, it is just a part. There are sections from the beginning to the end that have to be changed to make a proper file and that encompasses the 1 meg. This is allot more than 65k. I would imagine if I said 42.5k or 70.9k then that would be called the sweet spot also and so on.

I'm just trying to understand...but you still only answer what you want!
Why do ANY files need to be uploaded to your server? For what purpose?
Maybe the tuners themselves are not aware that certain things ARE compromised...
Yes Elvis is alive he drives a GT700, just ask BUDDY...
Where is Red 9, answer?

Now as far as the Tuners not knowing
They see the data that was pulled. Any tuner that doesn't want to use Softronic then fine. I'm not putting a gun to their head now am I? Now of course I used to, but that is another story. This applies to UMW as well.

OK I guess you really just do not understand???
The tuners all use Win Ols made by EVC. This program requires certain information for it to work otherwise the tuners just cant insert any file they want and get the check sums etc to work. We create a file with this data so that they can tune it and program the car in short. The 65 k consists of vin, program numbers, over revs, and a part of the map all totaling this figure. We assemble what is called a Bin2 file from a Porsche file so that it can be used in Win OLS tuned and flashed back to the car.

I'm sorry if I seemed short..... It is getting late. I build race engines M-F and work on customers jobs until 12pm or so everyday and have a couple of projects to finish.
I did not originally plan on answering any questions on this forum do to my busy schedule and had not even become a sponsor yet. However do to other circumstances I had no choice and wanted to clarify everything for the record.
Best,
Scott
Scott, you seem like a pretty decent guy. I really shouldnt call you out publicly, but I feel like I have no choice.... Elvis did not die, he is SuperModerator BuddyG on this very forum. Have a great Christmas

Marine,
Part of the great thing about this type of forum is that the technically dislectic( I am referring to myself here!) have access to some very clever people that are at the epicentre of a lot of developments that are of particular interest. I do not ask a question in any sense of hostility but out of trying to understand a process of great interest. Many who post here have abilities (particularly in relation to the computer age) and understand what you are saying - and out of that arises questions- I presume out of curiousity- not with an ulterior motive.
In fact-- the original post was seeking clarification that I would think is in everyone's interest to have no confusion over. In particular I will almost certainly be a beneficiary of your work and indirectly your companies services as I am sure many others who have read this thread will also. SOO--please continue to humour us with your posts-- it probably can save you hundreds of individual queries!
