Plz help!:996 TT, BMW M6, SL 55 AMG;

Hi all!

My brother want a new car. But he dont know what. He liked the serious power of the SL 55 AMG, the design of the upcoming M6, and the performance of the 996 Turbo. Has anybody experiences with the SL 55 AMG versus the 996 Turbo? Wich would you prefer: M6, 996T, SL 55 AMG? plz help.

Thanks for answers

had both SL55 & Turbo. if that's gonna be his only car then TT for sure. 55 is fast & very comfortable drive, but it's boring compare to Turbo. can't beat the hard top on the 55 but if ur bro is a hardcore guy u gonna tell him to get a Porsche.

we had 2 SL's (a 500 and a 55) and they were both bought back by MB because they were pieces of crap. I will never buy another MB until they fix their build quality issues.

So, since the M6 doesn't exist i'd take the TT

M6 is at least 15 months away, possibly 20.

This is a no brainer...get the TT...SL55 quality sucks and it's an automatic...M6 will weigh 80,000 lbs (I exaggerate, of course)...

Go for the true performance sports car...

TT.

Quality issues aside, if he wants more of a GT with great torque, OK steering and OK brakes, the SL wins. The Turbo is the far superior sports car but you need to explore/exploit its traits in order to get the most out of having it. For loafing around, the M-B makes more sense but if he really DRIVES his cars then the Turbo wins easily. As for the M6, no one knows what's up for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought it out along with the new M5. I think it will be more in line with the SL 55 due to weight issues. It probably will make a nice filler in-between the other 2.

hmm.. why isnt he considering a Gallardo.. its basically has better performance than both SL55, 996TT stock of course.. and if he is willing to wait for the M6 than wait till that time and we'll see what happens..
although my favourite is the 996TT of course, but it changed to the 997 so its a matter of time..

I recently talked to a BMW about the M6 and, as someone said above, they are unsure about whether there will be one. They said new M5 is in the works over next year or so, but the M6 is a big question mark and nothing more than magazine speculation at this point. The new M5 does sound like a beast though as far as power is concerned.

MANA is infamous around these parts
Not to steal the thread but, I am considering an SL55/600 and would like to know what some of the "quality" problems have been.
