Looking to buy 996 TT for daily driver

Hey guys. I'm new to the form but don't own a Porsche yet. I'm looking to purchase a 2001 996 Twin Turbo as my daily driver.

Hey guys i posted this on another forum without many responses, but this one seems busy.

Just had a few questions regarding driving Porsches in winter. We get quite a bit of snow in Alberta, is the 4 wheel drive able to handle it? Ofcourse, i would have winter tires in winter.

Currently I have a 2001 BMW 530i sport rear wheel drive and it runs fine all winter with winter tires, so my guess would be the Porsche would be better. The Porsche is low, but so is the BMW so ground clearance i think would be similar.

Howmany people run the 996's in winter?

Also, what are some common problems to watch out for in these cars? I'm still in the process of reviewing them.

Thanks.

Do some reading and searching and youll find some good stuff on using the 996TT as a daily in a cold weather area.

Good Luck

I use mine as a daily...Mine is a stage II car so it has a little more humph then a stocker and mine is fine. Put snows on it. Only thing that could be an issue is the ground clearance.Anything more then 6 " and I don't drive it..........Mine is lowered.

I had before BMW 750, 911tt handles defenitly better on snow than 750, especialy good is traction control. No problem starting motor at -30c celsius. And 911tt goes faster warmer than bmw, but cools down too(after 1 hour in -20c motor/coolant temp is low again)
Find good tires and you have a good car to drive in winter
