Smile how TUFF is the TT

hi there

i own a 4s and i must admit its been a great car for everyday use 63km or so and still going stong (03 model)

the MAIN reason i didnt get a turbo was i DIDNT think it could take that much use (I THINK IM WORNG?)

so can it handle daily use?? how much more would it cost to service?? dealer ONLY and it would stay stock

and im talking about say a 3-4 year period

do turbos need to be changed?? how much?

what i mean is the EXTRA costs in owning a TT not tires, oil and simple cheaper stuff

depends on what you guys say and recomend i MAY trade in or MOST likely get a 997 TT (yes i heard some people say there WONT be one but i think there will be a 997 TT just look at how many 996 tt got sold...

thanks guys

I had a 993 turbo, and I'm on my 2nd 996 turbo, and I think they're bulletproof. I probably go through rear tires faster than on my 996 cabriolet, but that's about the only extra expense. Other than poorer gas mileage.

I drive the hell out of my car every day (daily driver). I agree that it is bulletproof.

I'm not sure why you would think there could be a problem with a 996 TT as a daily driver. ANYTHING, and I do mean anything a C4S can handle, the 996 TT can and then some. It's as bullet proof as any Porsche can be (more so than your C4S btw).

live in Washnington state with lots of rain, some snow. Use turbo for 1.5 years as daily driver. No problems. 300$ for oil change at dealer

hi

Paul S-in TX

what i wanted is for TT owners to give me a OWNERS view on owing a TT and if it had EXTRA costs...ya my car isnt a TT but its still good and is a PORSCHE turbo or not..

"It's as bullet proof as any Porsche can be (more so than your C4S btw)."

could you please exlain why? i thought a turbo cost alot in the mid-long term

"so can it handle daily use?? how much more would it cost to service?? dealer ONLY and it would stay stock

and im talking about say a 3-4 year period

do turbos need to be changed?? how much?

this is what im after... not who owns the BEST porsche..if i wanted a TT i could have/still can go and get one tonight but as MOST of you guys know ALOT more than me i would like to get your views and thoughts...

btw its not the car, watch, clothes BUT the OWNERS who drives the car whatever it is

once again thanks guys

d.s., the turbo may be even tougher because its GT1-based engine is worlds ahead of the M96 engine the Carrera line uses. The M96 is prone to RMS leaks while the GT1 engine is literally bullet-proof. This is evidenced by 600+ HP engines with stock internals in TTs being used as daily drivers. You think 63 km per day is a lot? Pierre from Switzerland is nearing 130.000 km on his 2001 996TT. Driven regularly in rain, sleet and snow, over mountain passes and tracked as often as he can find time. If that doesn´t prove the 996TT is tough, I don´t know what does? Maybe you should try your luck with a 360 Modena

hi Crash

i will NEVER EVER (yes i know never say that lol ) buy a ferrari new or used or anything.i have ALWAYS loved porsches other than the shape looks and the way it drives i LOVE the fact that anyone can drive it (even my 19 yr old brother who hasent driven a stick car ever) and the fact that it can be driven without spending to much time with a machnic or cost you more than you can afford (want to spend) and beilve me im not that kind of person who will "upgrade" to a Ferrari and then slag off porsches like some people do esp at ferrari fourms...YES i like/love the shape sound of ferrari esp the daytona but love to see it ride in one dont never owning it

thanks guys keep them coming im learning alot from you guys

Extremely reliable daily driver for short or long runs for the reasons stated above. I'd go for the 996 TT because you can probably get a good buy right now, it's a known entity and, IMHO, a better looking car than the 997 (if the tt is produced). BTW, don't bet the farm on keeping it stock as this is a great car for some good and reliable mods, i.e. short shifter, ecu chip, sport exhaust, etc. Good luck with it.

I've gotta agree...the car is very stable. The 996TT has a wonderful engine with top notch performance and you can definitely drive it everyday with ease.

Trigger...pull the trigger....buy the TT...

Hows this for bullet proof.. 9 cars showed up at the European Car shootout.. All of them highly modified and after 2 days of completely thrashing them. All 9 cars drove home without problem. I still drive the same black car everyday around NY..

Absolutely bullet proof
