996 Turbo / GT2 Turbo discussion on previous model 2000-2005 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo and 911 GT2.

Let me re-phrase ~ How much power does/should a GT700 make on pump gas?

I dynoed 502 on pump and 520 on race here in Houston....and trap approx 130 in the 1/4 on race, 127 on pump...Oh I prob weigh about 100lbs less than drjitsu (so 10lb= 1 hp..about 10 hp).....

for comparison, a PE700 should pull three car lengths from 3rd to 5th gear on me (race file vs race file)....

this is just my experience and other variables have to been considered (like DrJitsu's horrible driving skill...........j/k, he ran a 6.7 ;60-130(race file) or gt700 vs pe 700 tunes/power bands.
I understand what you are saying but I believe Jitsu's car, although runs very strong on the race tune,is a bad example because it is sort of a hybrid from a few different tuners and is not the GT700 "model"so to speak.I also am not sure it's tune was optimized with pump gas in mind.I am pretyy sure that a pump GT700 will run away from a stage 4 on race gas considering equal cars and drivers.

My guess in answer to the question:

625-675 real crank HP.

BTW: the esteemed DR. Jitsu has "GT700 type turbos", not what
typical Protomotive cars run...his is a "frankenstein", a very nice,
quick frankenstein.

The average of the (5) GT700 cars that have drag strip trap speeds posted
is 135.9
This is not a very good control group because it includes (2) GT2's, one
very lightweight car that blew up shortly thereafter, and 2 were regular "full weight
or nearly full weight all-wheel drive cars. I believe that all or most of these runs were done in AZ with full support of EVOMS (EVOMS mechanic, trailer, tools,
etc.)on site.
Why does this differ from my run?? I drove 2.5 hours each way, obviously
stopping for pump gas, ran the PS2 Michelins that I drove there on and brought no tools, and Todd Knighton was not with me

Interesting fact is that the highest trap speed (GT700), is Chinotowest car
which I believe is a full weight all wheel drive car. This car was making some
very good power that day!

LOL....semantics...Joe might consider 3 lengths in a 60-130 run "pulling a little" others consider that running away.

On pump at 1.2 bars my car, in cool weather should dyno close to 600 at the wheels.

The other difference would be they got in the 10's!

Out of those cars the only one on pump was mine and it was run in E-town NJ.

Sean, you will have your chance on FEB 2 when I will be on race fuel and have lighter wheels on sport cups...

If you dyno 600 on pump, you should destroy me on my race gas tune...which i dyno 530.......oh i have stock wastegates.. btw....

So to conclude, just run the 60-130 on pump gas, then add some race gas....I will do the same so we can "virtual-bench" race when we compare the data, and end the controversy...

Joe,

I was hoping to race you today when everyone met up at Tommy's.

My car, under my old set up (Gt650) ran a 7.7 60-130 on pump.
