Sequential Gear Shifter System
I drove a similar unit in a Evo street/track car... worked good but for us street guys I doubt the cost offsets the benefits....
I see someone in the PCA racing using it on a GT3 etc....

Well, cost is really all relative. $8K for a sequential is a bargain!
I believe the Jurgen Alzen 996 Turbo race car also has a sequential box as well, as do most converted race cars at that level. I believe many are running the Ricardo system like the RSRs, which is a hell of a lot more than 8 or 10K...

If it were 1k, no problem ...it is way overpriced. IMHO of course. You still need to pay to install it, and it doesn't give you clutch free life....it is just a converter of the shift pattern to a linear shift pattern. Nice, and I could live with it in my car, if it were priced correctly.
Maybe they read these links....
The new PDK will kill this product if they don't lower the price a LOT. I for one would get the PDK in a new car and get custom levers made up for it for a few hundred to a 1k range so it looked and worked like a Maserati coupe S.....best implementation in my mind yet of the levers.....the newest coupe is what I feel is right (the new Ferrari's are superb too).

I think there's a market for this product. If you have an 996 you can bring the same system over to your "new" second-hand 997.
Not everyone gets a new Porsche.
Marius did you install it in the end? Was there absolutely no additional drilling/cutting etc to the car, and I mean absolutely none.... I want the car to be absolutely returnable to original.
Results?
I am interested to know the outcome and your comments. For me I still from time to time jam up my 2nd to 3rd change in my RS when I am at the track and in the heat of it... and this would definitely help me out.

I think this is the company that makes the kit for Oakley

To me, the biggest concern with this is the syncromesh. With a fairly big flywheel and and an instant robot shift that does not have the feel of hand to detect the millisecond that the gear is good to go, there's no way gears are in sync - so bye bye syncromesh. It works great on racing/dog ring boxes. Syncromesh life span? Would be interesting to know.
Couldn't agree more... Never liked this design setup from day one, but that's just me.

I am still weighing the cost benefits of this unit before I commit, but if someone really wants to get rid of theirs second hand I am willing to consider.... with all the negative feedback, it should go cheap I hope
hmmm... thanks for the heads up. Had just contacted Jon Oakley asking about synco wear as this would be a deal breaker.... but sounds like I need to do more research about Oakley as well first. Cheers....
