Removing Slits from Side AC Vents

Does anyone here know how to remove the slits out of the side, left and right, AC vents?

That car is either RHD or the photo is reversed or I'm nuts! As fot the slits...I accidently popped on out and then snapped it back in. There is a vertical bar that operates the up and down in back of the slits. Each slit snaps into the vertical bar. I think based on what happened you can just yank each one out individually. They flex a bit to allow this but be careful not to break one. Again, I popped mine out by mistake.

Yes that picture is of a RHD, its the only picture I could find to show exactly what I wanted to do, so your not nuts. I thought they only come out one by one and just didnt want to risk breaking one.

I think you'll be fine...they are ABS plastic and do flex a bit. Let me know how it goes....

Thanks JK996TT, I was considering doing an aluminum/carbon combo, thought it would look pretty good. I saw this interior and have been quite interested in duplicating it.

I think either all alu or all carbon better - my opinion and my taste of course...

The problem is some of those pieces you cannot get afterwards and painting pieces never comes out 100% perfect, so that is why I considered mixing it up a little.

I love the all carbon fiber look. BMW killed my love for aluminum interior with their imitation aluminum. CF has a cool look that is still subtle because it looks almost black. I like a dark interior...seems less distacting.

That is just my opinion though...always do what you like best.

I prefer aluminum... for the contrast.

Side Vent Removal

I have the "small carbon fiber" interior option on my '01. I purchased the two side vent covers seperately and thanks to the courtesy of Porsche PHD (one of the sponsors here!) I got instructions on removing the two side pieces. The passenger side is a snap, the drivers side is more challenging and requires some dexterity which I have in extremely limited amounts.

But Caveat Emptor, the set that I bought were not Carbon Fiber all the way through. Since installation the vent slats have worn away the carbon cover on the shell piece and it is showing white through the wear patches.

I don't know if they are all like this but it looks tacky. I am thinking of going back to my original leather pieces.

P.S. I did not buy this set from a Board Sponsor!
