Which pads and discs?

Pads and discs could do with a change on my car - what do you guys suggest?

Don't want any squealing and they are for normal every day road use, and have the standard brake setup.

Or should I upgrade to a BBK? Coud only stretch to fronts at the moment? And they'd have to fit behind Sportec Mono 10s.

Thanks

For normal street driving, go with Porsche OEM. Reasonable price and no squealing. If you will be tracking the car, then consider an upgrade. I never heard of BBK, must be a European brand, but over here we would upgrade to GT3 brakes, or Brembo, Performance Friction, or that British company that is sounds something like Alcor.

Order the rotors from Suncoast and get some ATE pads from www.rockauto.com. Had great luck with those on the street. They have enough bite to do will with spirited driving and do NOT make any noise. Best part, they're cheaper than the OEM stock Porsche pad, but perform better in my opinion. They also provide moderate to low dusting.

Dustless pads typically are ceramic based and are total JUNK. They simply don't have the bite of pads that shed dust. I had a Corvette I ran a set on and I'm not kidding, the "stopping" distance doubled.

Wish I could get a OEM compatible rotor (disc) that did not show rust...like a two piece. I'd got to that when I replace the rotors. ..... Stock does what I need.

Rust at the hat....I don't care about the disc surface. It is that center part that bugs me....clean the car, etc., and see the rust... I hate that.

Whoa, that would be expensive!!! Change the rotors when the cracks are over 7mm in length, or when they start to connect to each other, or when they get close to the edge of the rotor.

If you don't track the car, they might last forever.

thats good to know i guess... its just the dealer recommended changing out the rotors along with the pads and i thought that was absurd so i just took it home and installed the pads myself. quick install b.t.w.

question though, while i might not be tracking my car, it seems that i am a bit harsh on my brakes (i do a lot of sprinted driving). how long should pads usually last? it seems i only put about 8-10k miles on my pads and they already need a replacement. :P

Get the Porsche GT2 kit or a Brembo kit. Brembo makes an equal size or larger kit, and you can get slotted rotors, which arent prone to crack under heavy use like the drilled.

As Tom Kerr found out, those Brembo "kits" don't allow for you to retain the OEM factory wheels... So when upgrading the brakes you end up getting hit with a bill for new wheels too... NO THANKS.
