Boost question...

I have 996TT XP50, Cargraphics exhaust and flash. My boost is @ 1.0 bar sustained and peaking @ 1.1 bar. What’s my estimated bhp?

My friend has a non XP50 car 996TT, same Cargraphics exhaust and flash. His boost @1.0 sustained and peaking @1.1 bar. What’s his bhp?

Would we be the same bhp-wise?

You have about 50 hp on him... 550 vs 500 give or take 15hp...

on the X50 i would assume that you would get a 1.3 Bar Flash instead of 1.0.

Higher boost doesn't always equal more power. While I haven't looked at the compressor map for a K24 in a while, I think at a sustained 1.3 you are out of their efficiency range. The turbo is essentially over heating at this point and heating the intake charge air to the point of making less power.
Not to mention, you are probably well out of injector at that point, runing lean AFRs and flirting with the knock sensor on pump gas.

So, let me get this right,

996TT = K16

996TT XP50 or S = K24

So, max efficient boost for K16 and K24 is the same? 1 bar? Could I flash to 1.3?

yes this is right. To my minimal knowledge on the P-cars, I heard that 1.2 bar is the max one should go, and 1.1 bar on the saver less aggressive tune.

Boost

When both cars have the same boost pressure (1.0) and the same exhaust and intakes, but they only differ in the turbos,I assume that they should have the same hp...i mean when the engine is boosted at 1.0 bar, there is the same amount of air entering the combustion chamber in both cases no matter what the turbos are...However by having a look at the characteristics of each turbo we can observe the miximum efficient boost pressure for each kind of turbo...So obviously the K24 has a higher efficient boost limit Vs K16.I thing that K24 can reach efficiently 1.3-1.4 while k16 can reach 1.0-1.1

Yes, this is correct

Max boost or preferred boost? IMHO, the boost you want to make power for K16 and K24 is different:
K16 is 1.0 (much over this is does not increase power),
K24 is 1.2
TB shutdown around 1.35

k 24s flow more more then the k16s ,so at the same boost leevl u would get more power then the k16s do. and i would not boost at 1.3 bar on the k24s.

If you boost past 1.0, use a higher octane gas to keep the combustion temps lower. The car will run a little cooler.

I therefore presume; K16 and K24 both at 1 bar = original advantage of my car which is about 30bhp?

Do K16's spool quicker? Is it noticable?

Yes they do spool quicker, but do not have the high end boost K24's have.

K24s at 1 bar will produce more power then k 16s at 1 bar .
