Modded Z06 VS Modded 996TT
I have to agrea with Indykid,My 996 tt has K16/24 ,europipe exhaust, garret actuators,567hp crank and my friend has a stock Z06 ,I raced him manytimes from 40 till 160 miles but his car is just as fast as mine...
I like starting from 0MPH and race to 125MPH. This way the drivers abilities come more into play. From a roll, the drivers ability is less of a factor.
Couldn't agree more and why I emphasize the driver's/car and setups...
Was excellent you were able to do similar times at the strip, but you know damn well the GT2 shines on the highway, not the dragstrip, so let me ask you a question... Wouldn't it have pulled damn hard on the highway? The Z06 has always been a good car to get down the strip! Now I know the logistics of trap speed and so on, but it's not ALWAYS accurate, at least from the car's and people I have ran who tell me what they have done at the strip, yet on the highway they fall short by a lot!

This is the problem....many of these posts are a bit blurred due to brand loyalty.
Jamie,
I think we should try a friendly roll in Houston!
Did you say that your Z06 has outrun your old GT2 (that the Kid owns now) in
a side by side highway run??? If so, like you said there wont be too many (although
more all the time) 996TT's that will pull your Z06.
Modded Z06's are fricking fast!!

Murder for the turbo i'm saying.. These car's even in stg 2 form are FAST on the highway, as I said Z06's just dropp the hell off.. Now here is how I can say this, I ran a modded Z06 with my GT2, I pulled so hard and fast on it (ford gt with tune and exhaust also) that it was laughable. I then ran a Proto 700 GT2 and was dead even with me until 140-150 he would have then started pulling nice from there...
Martin,
Would you mind telling me exactly which “Proto 700 GT2” you raced? I’m curious to know about the car, the owner, and the modifications it has.
I’m only asking because an AWD Proto 700 TT is a very good match for an RT-12. A Proto GT2 is faster still. And for you to stay with either, it would mean that your 550 HP car is as quick as an RT-12 as well…which, I don’t believe to be the case.
As far as you against Jamie’s ZO6…no offense, but you simply would not have a chance.

My only thing I want to throw into the thread is that my brothers car, which only makes a measly 530rwhp, has been a 132mph in the 1/4 (and been a best of 10.55 @ 128, letting off early (on motor)) has ran multiple Supras that have ran really impressive 60-130 times and only lost by a car or less from ~50-150. It has shocked many owners of cars that we have seen with our own eyes go 136-137mph in the 1/4 with my brother being a half car to a car out on them (even with my brothers car spinning when he hits it in 2nd). The gearing in the Vette is very ideal for roll racing in my opinion, just because it can go ~160+ in 4th gear. Also especially in FRC Vettes (99-04 Z06s and Hardtops) the weight factor really helps out (my brothers car weighing in at 3200lbs with driver). I am sure at TX2K8 we will see how some of the high HP P-cars do against some of the high HP Vettes from a roll. I hope Jamie is able to bring his down and my brothers Vette should be up and running on the 300 shot. There are also plenty of other fast Vettes in Houston to play with.

I don't mind one bit, it was Raudel's GT2, we did a 3 way me him and a buddy of our's Murcielago... I had a passenger and he didn't, dead even until about 140-150 or so from the 50 we ran at... As far as his Z06, you can say what you want... On our runs we have ran into several nicely modded Z06's, and they weren't an issue. As for bench racing and assumptions? I don't care to say anymore, my experiences were given, and witnessed!
It will never happen, not on my watch! 30 seconds, ya right! I can care less what is printed in some magazine. I have real life experiences. Here in OC a GT2 and TT are everywhere. I have raced several GT2's and they lost to my heavy cab.
My TT S stays with a 2008 Lambo LP640 to 125MPH. He may have 1 car length some of the time. The only car to date that has done that to me. An LP640 has 0-62 time of 3.5 seconds and 205MPH top speed.

Hi guys, I am running a stock 08 z06 this week in my 996 I will post up some good videos, I really find it hard to believe its going to beat my car but after reading some of this thread you guys got me scared. I am a k16 car with only Software/BC/Racegas program/DV'S/RWD. I am new to the 996 scene but been in the drag racing scene for years as you can see from my sig. The zo6 guy is also a very good driver to it will be fair game.

How did you get 494 rwhp with those mods? That's stronger than a lot of K24 cars. And 563 rwt
........I guess the racegas program should help. If your car does in fact make that power and the Z06 is stock, you should have no problem at all.
My ex stg 2 turbo did similar numbers on pump, 493 rwhp and 516 rwtq, he has a STRONG stg 2 k16 car!!!!
I don't mind one bit, it was Raudel's GT2, we did a 3 way me him and a buddy of our's Murcielago and pased a state trooper doing this run who was sitting in the middle median facing us and why we slowed down at that point... I had a passenger and he didn't, dead even until about 140-150 or so from the 50 we ran at... As far as his Z06, you can say what you want... A Proto 700 HP car that is actually making 700 HP is significantly faster than your car, given equal conditions. I guarantee it.
Example: Woodtster ran a 6.39 60-130 in his AWD 700 HP Proto car. A RWD RT-12 only went 6.4 from 62-124. Which puts it well over 7 seconds in a full 60-130. Woodtster also went faster than an RT-12 in the Standing Mile.
All that having been said; your essentally claiming that not only is your 550 HP car faster than a 700 HP Proto car...it's also faster than a RT-12. Not possible.
I have a very easy way for you to finally prove to everyone on this forum how fast your "amazing" GT2 really is. Purchase or borrow a Driftbox and do a couple of 60-130 runs and then then send me or KPG the data for verification. Simple.

I will also do this and I only have a slow TT S. Where do we get them and how much $$$?
