Seized Turbo Lines

What are the likeliness of the Turbo Oil Pressure Line seizing to a point where you end up stripping the line?

I can't see everyone having to replace their Oil feed line to the turbos everytime they decide to swap turbos....

My simple turbo/exhaust swap became a nightmare shelling over $2k to fix. Did anyone else have this issue?

My friend and I removed our turbos on both of our cars this weekend. Mine with 25k miles and his with 10k. We used a needle nose vive grip plier to hold the botom and an open end on the top. One of the bolts on my car striped on one of the surfaces but we were able to get it off with another. I also sprayed it with bp blaster.

Sorry that happened to you.

you mean the one that goes to the top of the turbo??? did you guy snot know how to unscrew the check valve above it? that is common when someone never did it. But $2K is outrageous....

hes the lines going into the turbo are a real bear to get off. i ended up soaking them down with a penetrating oil overnight then using an s&k tube wrench working them out by tightening them and loosening them back and forth back and forth. this was the most time consuming part. i think there is a post with photos buddyg and i did it this fall on my car

Guys you definately have to use special tubing wrenches when you do this, especially on the top vent line. The problem is when you reinstall the top line , that is where the greatest risk of stripping the threads will occur

+1 mike

be sure the coupling is nice and free on the tubing and the threads start straight.

yeah well.. i had to drop the motor to get both sides... im a bit upset as this set me back some.

marksi - i dont think its the check valve that was the issue, it was the turbo oil feed line itself that goes into the check valve...

colorinc is correct, it is very much like a brake line, you have to work it back and forth, back and forth in a fast motion (small turns, do not overturn) and keep doing this, you will eventually hear a crack, that is a good sign as it has un-seized itself. Be patient it will happen, oh and try to soak overnight with penetrating oil as mentioned.
