that thing is doo-doo. Buy a 04 M5 now. It will be the last good looking understated BMW made.

Dislike the looks all you want, but that car will be the new benchmark for 4-door sedan performance. Look at the stat; "Another new feature is the M5s power button. At start up, the driver is given access to 400 hp in a default program, dubbed P400. Depressing the button unleashes P500 and the engines full 507 hp wallop along with a more responsive throttle. In P500 BMW says the new car will hit 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and its 155 mph top speed in 14.9 sec. (??????????) With its speed-limiting chip removed, BMW says its new sedan will reach 205 mph, although company policy prohibits official modification, even at the dealer level "(Autoweek)

Internet haters. All over, even on a 911 Turbo board.

This car has more presence than your 911 widebodies.

Better engine, too. Better tranny, too. And it seats four which is a good and bad thing depending on how you look at it.

Get off the crack... its messing with your brain

Lexus has a similar setup on their cars and it's very useful. It just numbs down the throttle response and bumps back the timing, very good for carrying passengers and just tooling around town. You don't need 500hp and razor sharp throttle response to go get groceries or a pack of cigarettes from the supermarket.

I don't love bangles designs, but, the cars sell regardless. The new M5 is no different. People will be lining up to pay $10k over just to get one of these. I personally love the car. I used to hate the new 5, and it still looks bad when not in motion, but, on the road has a real pressence. Rumor has it the car will be 4.0-4.1 to 60 and 0-200km/h in less than 13!!!
