Considering several mods for the car (exhaust, short shift, PSS9's), but wondering if it is worth doing considering the car is "technically" not mine and will be going back in several years. I'm thinking, what the hell, why not.

our GT2 is leased. 4 years is a long time, enjoy it. mods are never really worth any money at resale anyway and i would have probably never owned the car for more than 4 years.

fairly complicated cuz we are the second owners and the trade in was pretty complex. i don't remember the exact residual and money factor we ended up with and don't have the paperwork handy.

just keep your stock parts and put them back on when you turn it in...???? seems like the most reasonable idea to me.

can't we just return a modded vehicle at the lease end? I don't think you will be penalized for upgrading the car.

Many leasing companies will penalize you for altering the car. It will cost them money to bring the car back to stock form.

If you are like me, it should make no difference when deciding to mod a leased or owned vehicle. Either way, upon sale or lease end, you will be returning the car to stock form and selling the parts. Just make sure to hold onto the stock parts.

Agree with Pete and others. As long as your mods are removable, take them off and sell them. Check eBay: used, good condition parts sell for 50-75% of new value. Some mods aren't easily removed (SSK - at least mine) - just leave that in the car.

As to suspension, you'll pay labor costs to remove and replace with stock, but I'd say it's worth the cost of enjoying it over the duration of the lease. Worst case, you remove and sell the used Pss9s and hope that it covers the labor.

You are now free to mod about the cabin.

all the above is pretty much what I was thinking. Might as well enjoy it during the term of the lease, and try to sell them and go back to stock at the end. Thats what I did with my Boxster S
