Looks of 996 TTS Cab vs. 997 TT Cab??
A friend purchased a white 997 TT Cab, black top and interior this weekend and was anxious to show it to me. I just took my '05 out of storage and met up with him.
We had our cars parked out front, nose to nose and had people complimenting both, but hands down preferred the looks of the 996 over his 997.
Obviously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but w/ the added effects of my 996, chip, ground effects, etc... I just don't see enough of a benefit over the 997 yet.
Certainly ticked him off.

It's all in the eye. The 997 has more of the 993 bulging fenders, but I think the the 996 in TT form is less "trendy" and more timeless. IMO hallmarks of a great lasting design.
Compare the Ferrari 348 to the 355 and you will see what I mean. The 348 has the side grates that makes it look so 80s..

I prefer the 6 over the 7 as well.
You're the one without a clue my man!

I have a 996TT but I wish I had the 997TT.
If given a choice of the two, no person in there right mind would choose a 996TT over a 997TT.
Just look at the 996 Carrera v. 997 Carrera... the 996 Carrera is pretty ugly and dated.

I just purchased a 996TT Cab about three weeks ago. I do prefer the 997TT Cab both from an interior and exterior perspective. I think the interior is especially improved. But the 996TT is still a great looking car. For my limited budget, though, the difference in appearance and performance didn't come close to justifying the price difference between my Stage IV '04 996TT Cab w/6k miles and a 997TT Cab

Two days ago my friend and I parked next to each other and had a long (looks) comparison session between (996TT and 997TT) - our cars. Well, this is how I now feel;
1. I prefer 996 front view - more aggressive.
2. I prefer 996 headlights - although 997’s retros also look good, 996’s are more futuristic (if that is a good or bad thing - not sure yet - and I love 996 headlights wash spray nozzles versus 997’s stuck-on ones).
3. I prefer 996 4 line air outlay at the bottom of rear bumper to 997’s 3.
4. I prefer 996 rear light clusters.
5. I actually prefer 996 interior (more curves rather than straight lines – not to mention the steering wheel – I find 997 positively FIAT and the stop watch is just not worth discussing even).
6. I prefer 997 side air intakes.
7. I prefer 997 rear wing – and larger air scoops.
8. I prefer 997 wing mirrors.
9. I prefer 997 wheels (I didn’t at the beginning but I do now).
10. I prefer 997 rear bumper line at an angle rather than straight.
Otherwise, I believe any 911 change to date really warranted designation change but 996-997? I am probably going to be flamed by 997TT owners but I really think Porsche is being drawn into the marketing game just a little bit too hastily. I await the 998 but it seems to me that look-wise they are seriously running out of ideas. 997 is an odd car to me – it seems like it doesn’t quite know what it wants to be...

Thanks Gleeny. Yeah, I know it isn't fair to compare a stock vs modded car. My point was only to state that I could pay $130K+ for a bone stock 997 Cab or $50k+ less for a modded, low miles 996 Cab. Despite how nice the 997 is, the $50k+ savings makes my 996 look all the more awesome!!
