Tire Pressure Michelin Pilot Sport Cups...

Hi Guys...

I just fitted my first set of Michelin Sport Pilot Cups. The max inflation pressure says 35psi. That's obviously lower than the factory recommended 36/44psi. I've got 32/35psi...What are you guys running?

Thanks

And what tire pressures (cold and hot) are you running at the track? Rob

I'm running them in on the street until track day which is 2 weeks from now. If I get 8k miles, I'll certainly run these on the street because I really like them.

For autocross, I'd probably run a little lower pressure and let the tire warm up.

After even driving home, my tires are really warm. Much warmer than the p-zeros to touch.

Well...I am running the same size of Cups as Chad...265 fronts and 315 rears x 18 inch on a significantly tuned 996tt. I just completed a 3,000 mile road trip with the car. Much of the driving was very spirited on northern california and southern oregon back mountain roads. I took a pyrometer along to help dial in tire pressure.

I ended up using 25f/27r cold. This works very well.

John, what type of front springs are you using? I have checked with my set up (H&R coil overs) and taken measurments and the 265's would not fit with the type of front camber and height that I prefer. I would have to excessively roll the fenders, Did you have to roll yours to make the 265's fit? And at full turns the fender liners have to be relieved. Are or did you experiencing any rubbing issues?

TIA

Thanks for the info John. With 25/27 cold, what pressures do you get warm? I'm just trying to figure out how much the tire pressure changes for a warm tire. Do you use different pressures when you just drive around town?

Best regards...

36/36..... i like to run lower than stock spec cuz it gives better traction.

Chris...I do not have my notes in front of me right now, but I seem to recall that it ended up about 33f/34r when hot. This yielded the most even temps. across the tire contact patch.

Oak...Springs, I can look when I get home and post the answer; rolled fenders, yes we rolled all four fenders but not excessively; rubbing, a little on the rear which I am dialing out with some new wheel spacers I have just ordered and on the front just ever so slightly on the forward section of the inner fender liner.

Hope this helps,

John

996twin,

Is that 36/36 cold? I really should get one of those pyrometers to dial in pressures.
