New Vehicle No-Export Policy
New Vehicle No-Export Policy
I was browsing The Porsche Exchange's site when I noticed this.

New Vehicle No-Export Policy
We are not able to sell any new vehicles that are intended for export outside of the United States of America. Persons interested in purchasing new vehicles for export are kindly asked not to contact us as this policy is non-negotiable.
Thank you.
It's the first time I've seen a dealer post such a notice on their site. PCNA cracking down?

They are close to me... lately due to the dollar decline I noticed that lots of Europeans are buying cars and sending them to Europe for profit.. big profit...
maybe that is why....

I don't think they care what you do after you buy it. They just don't want some guy from France asking them if they can ship it to them. Porsche may have also asked them to put this on the website to protect their European dealers.

It's gotta be the reason.
Now I know I'm getting old. I remember when PCNA would not service grey market cars imported to the US. They even got congress, the EPA and NHTSA to pass plenty of regulations to make it difficult to import grey market cars to the US. I sold my last Porsche to a Canadian who spent a fortune getting it imported and still sold it for a profit in Canada. I guess we're a third world country now.

There are a lot of cars bought at the used auction, per a driver there, that are being purchased for Eastern European consumption....by organizations......
Anyway, supply and demand in the US, because of this, will likely make the 996TT go up in value despite anyone with a 993TT saying it cannot possibly happen. (joke there, ok, but probably true).

I'm thinking about returning to the UK....
In about 2 -3 years and suspect it still might make sense to bring my '03 turbo with me.
Of course a lot depends on exchange rates - but currently it looks attractive.

When I worked for Porsche the rule was that any dealer caught selling "new" cars overseas would be penalized from PCNA in the form of loss of alocations. If you did it more then once rumor had it you could loose your franchize. They take it very seriously. Now if a person bought it, registered it, and taxes are paid in their state, it then becomes a used vehicle and is eligible for export without any dealer violation because they are no longer involved.
Yea guys here is the difference, a US 2002 TT will sell for what 60-65 K ish....The same Canadian car will sell for 85 to 90ish,the US is the cheapest place on earth to but a TT. To give you an idea, my girl is an import/export agent, She tells me everyday she sends US PARCs to Germany. They are 100% trying to protect that countries respective dealerships.
I'm thinking about returning to the US...
