New PS2s ... and tire pressures

Finally got some new wheels with PS2s. The fronts came at about 38psi and the rears were 44psi. Went for a quick 15 minute drive, and came back to retighten the lugs. At this point the fronts where 42psi and the rears 48psi - so they all jumped about 4 psi. Is this normal/good? Should I stick with 36f/44r when cold with the PS2s or ??

I am curious to hear the answer to this one. Living in South Florida our "cold" is 85. That's at night!

The roads get so darn hot that I often wonder if I should slightly under-inflate to compensate for the extreme heat. I have yet to be able to get a straight answer.

Just to clarify when I said cold I was referring to cold tire pressures.

Here in Dallas area it's hot too ... at least 90 degrees today.

Cool 36/44

Stick with 36/44.
My original Pilot Sports just turned 11,000 and the rears are at 3/32 on the 'drive side'.
On the track, the rears got to 54 and the car felt great.
Check them cold every week.
Ciao

36/44 is too high, the PS2 gets hot very quickly which increases the pressures a lot. GT3 pressures were 32/39.

PS2 is a good tire if comfort and grip are your priorities, but if you want excellent handling forget about it.

Oh? Grip doesn't translate into handling? Are the side walls not stiff enough?

I thought most on this board agrees PS2 is the way to go.
What other street tire provides better handling without sacrificing too much in other depts? S03?

How's the regular pilot sports compared to the PS2 btw.

Interesting ... can others with PS2s chime in on what pressures they are running?

Grip really doesn't translate into handling; it's how the tire controls vertical, lateral and transitional motions. The PS2's sidewalls are too soft.

Again, it depends on the type of driving you do; if you don't do a lot of canyon or track the PS2 should work fine.

I've always liked the S02 or S02-A or Yok AVS Sport as a street tire. They all have compromises, be it in grip, handling, wear, comfort, noise... choose your priorities. Mine are handling & grip.

Oh these wheels aren't for the track ... that's what the stock wheels are for - probably with cups.

So far I love the PS2s - great tire. If you can tell the difference in handling between these and another "better" tire you're driving waaaay too nuts for public streets LOL.

Ok so hmm maybe I will drop it down a few PSI all the way around and play with it for a bit. When you said "GT3 pressures were 32/39" are you saying those are stock GT3 tire pressures? I don't know much about them GT3s ...

Iam running PS2s at manufacturer recommended pressures. I like them alot. They are still fairly new so I have not pressed them hard yet.

I run them 36/38 and probably going to drop them more. 54 is WAAAAY too much. I believe the sidewalls say not to exceed 50psi.

I was too...my point is that my ambient temp for cold pressure measurements is much higher than other parts of the country.

I would definately buy hazard insurance. Make sure they are aware that you cannot patch N series tires. If you get a flat, the entire tire have to be replaced. Porsche does not recommend fixing any N series tires. I recently bought PS2 from American Tire with road hazard warranty and they are willing to replace the tire instead of fixing it.

Make sure the insurance covers the replacement of both tires on the axle. Porsche manual requires that. Unless you get into trouble when the tire is new.
