pedal feel immediately after installing stock pads/rotors

i installed stock pads & rotors, cleaned the rotors beforehand, bled the brakes, and my pedal is still fairly low to the floor. it doesn't feel like air where it mushes (and i did bleed them); the pedal is just slower; it stops fine.

does it take awhile for the stockers to bed in & feel normal? manual says 200 miles but i'd expect the pedal feel to be right from the start?

confused...

thanks,
chuck

Any reason for the re-bleed? Was it just for fresh fluid change.

A little old trick that might help, push the brake pedal down and get something to hold it there in place overnight, this sometimes helps bring any little bubbles/pockets of air to the top, we done it all the time with MX bikes and I know a few that do it with cars and it does help.

re-bleed only b/c i thought it was air at first. after bleeding, not convinced it's air.

suppose i can try the pedal trick - should be easy enough.

Yip, but you do know that you did not have to bleed them just for a pad/rotor change.

Drive it and make several hard stops, like from 75 to 45. When you get it back in, look to see how evenly the rotors are wearing. What you are describing sounds to me like the pads haven't mated to the rotors, so you have less contact than will eventually be there.

2nd that...

when i install new pads,(padgid yellows) i have a very soft feel at first.. after i break in the pads properly, and give it a day or two, the pedal feel gets much stiffer..

ok, thanks guys, sounds like that might be the problem. i've only got 40 miles or so on it

(steve996tt - yes, i only bled the brakes b/c of the soft feel after i changed everything... never had that feeling before in other cars.)

Got ya!

Yip! you also have to bed them in as the guys have mentioned above (sorry I thought you had done that) basic procedure can be found here http://www.braketechnology.com/brakepadbedding.html

How the pedal feel?

You didn't get any substance on the pads when changing them?

Maybe try some good brake cleaner, can sometimes help.

when you change pads/rotors...do you have to get new sensors too?

I replace some time ago pads and fluid - same problem pedal goes easily to floor.
We tried to get air out 4-5 times, but there's no air inside system...after about 1000miles I go again to service and then we get air out from right rear and now everything works fine
So go now and make airing again.

You need change sensors when they are broke.

i cut off the sensors and just tied the wires together. getting the sensors out intact seems like a pain; if you want to keep them, plan on buying new sensors.

It is possible the rubber hose is soft and gives you that spongy feeling ..not quite like air in the system.

I would put stainless lines and bleed again. I did that mine feels rock solid now.Cheap and easy to do.
Hopes that helps
