that is an impressive time by any standards.
As for what a turbo can do, that all depends on the driver. But I have heard that a good awd can do better on that track than rwd so if a GT2 with top driver and street tires can do it in 7:31, I would think that a turbo with the same driver could crank off times as good. But they have not done it to my knowledge.

your probably right and the reason why the GT2 was given slightly more power, so that they don't have to prove it on the track. The difference in power is probably not enough to overcome the improved traction. Too bad to, because the Turbo should be able to get around the track much better given all the same parameters.
That's why I thought it would be interesting to see what a modded 996TT could do - say engine mods putting out 550 - 600hp with suspension and brake upgrades also. I'd think that this should put it close to the GTRs time.

Why is this here? Is this the Nissan section? We really need a wasteland section around here.....

I'm just counting down till the day one thinks he can pick on any 996 Turbo and runs across me.. I guarantee it will be GTR smack down fest
There are plenty of those types of people around here that buy something like a new Z06 or Viper and think its the fastest thing in the world even though its stock.

True True! I've seen and heard about many wrecks where you know the guy in the car saw it on TV that there car had superior handling and ends up hopping a curb, smacked into a guard rail, etc.
I'll add to the off topicness. If we want to go cheap, I have less than 20k n my 944Turbo, and I am sure I could stay with the GTR. my little 2800 lb, 350 hp car has the same power to weight ratio as the GTR and is light enough to scramble around corners quicker. So bang for the buck, 951 wins
Well, now that I did a little search on the original poster EPIC, I found that he joined just to stir shizzle. And this is why he keeps posting the same GTR BS since his hatching. EPIC, face it, the GTR will look like crap in 8 years like all nissans do, I know I have owned many. The engine will sag(for lack of a better term). But they are more reliable than what you probably drive now.
Funny how the GTR is the sport tuner car of want and yet it doesn't win the supercar showdown, haha, a 996TT does

The Edo Porsche 996GT2 RS lapped the Ring at 7:15 in September '05. Is that what you're looking for?
