Way overpriced Don...$425K.....I'll take a Carrera GT for 40K more anyday over it.

 

Old technology at Carrera GT price with less than 996tt performance

 

Even though the 959 is a shade under the Carrera GT. Even though it also doesnt look as gorgeous as the Carrera GT or the 996 Turbo or GT2. Even though it does the 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. You are buying a porsche for a few things. Performance, Reliability, Prestige, and History. You are not getting what you should get when you put that $80,000 on the table at the porsche dealership. if you want insane performance get the Viper of Corvette Z06 well under what Porsches go for. I would choose the 959 because I bought my porsche because of the history and community you get with a purchase of a Porsche. Some people choose other cars over the Porsche because of performance numbers, but I think that owning a 959 is like owning the rifle that killed Kennedy. It may not be up to par as rifles today, it may not look as clean and stealth as rifles today, but its a piece of history that is used as novelty. The same for the 959 in my honest opinion.

The 959 is anything but reliable. Finding and buying parts for that car can be a complete nightmare. Can you imagine having to freight your car from the states back to Werk 1 for maintenance? It is only worth $400,000+ based on an overpowering emotional attraction. And as for performance, Porsche's newer cars are far more capable than the 959 for a lot less money.

Well you may be right about the 959 not being reliable, but I didnt say the 959 itself is reliable. I was generally saying Porsches can be used as daily drivers compared to ferraris, which are known to have problems that will make these cars unable to be daily drivers.! Either way, the 959 is a beast and I want one!
