Want to replace OEM Battery. Which one do you guys like?

I have a 2004 996 TT X50 and would like to replace my OEM battery with a lighter and smaller setup. What batteries are you guys using? How many days will a smaller battery keep charged up? Could you post some pictures of your setup.

Thanks, G

I dont know about Porsches, but we always use Optima batteries. They always hold up well in our competition and show vehicles with big audio/video installs.

Jimmer, did you fabricate that battery mounting bracket, or did you just buy it? I want to put an optima in, but I don't want to buy a special bracket.

If you did fab it up, do you have any directions??

Thanks!!

i have the same battery as jimmer as well.
battery holds great with maybe 15lbs of weight savings.
i fabricated my bracket with a long piece of aluminum from home depot. i bent it appropriately and put the screws as well. just make sure you align everything well. i found a diy somewhere im sure you can search it.

Thanks for all of your info. How well does the Optima Battery hold charge? How many days will the charge last without starting the car?

Thanks

If you do not go the Optima route I have had an Interstate battery and it has worked flawlessly. It is no weight savings but a good replacement for the stock battery

I have an Optima Yelllow with the custom mounting bracket. I needed a deep cycle for my sound system...

I have a source for the battery mounting bracket and he's in LA. PM me for details.
