Again, hope it is the MAF. yes it is expensive but less than putting Plugs.

turboporsche is infamous around these parts
I had a similar problem from 2500-4000 RPMs. It turn out to be a boost leak.

Sputtering?? Really?

Mine went away after replacing plugs. I've had nightmares with this issue between the MAF and plugs.

Haven't looked into it yet. But I can't repeat the sputtering issue now.

I put in 5 gallons of 100 octane last week just for kicks and the issue started when I filled up with 91 Octane the next time. I'm wondering if the computer just needed to back off timing?

Ari, mine did that sputtering for a split second thing off and on. Then after a while the CEL would come on...but never stayed on. Then it was time to change the plugs anyway but when I did, it needed 2 coil packs. So don't drive it too long in that condition. My aftermarket warranty covered it so I don't know exactly how much it was for just the plugs.

Sounds like Plugs now. Did you try to disconnect the MAF?

I was going to suggest gas. Went on a road trip Sunday and the car would lightly sputter @ >4000 RPM in 5th and 6th. Car dropped flat on its face. Had 91 in the car. Added a can of Torco and topped up with 94 and pulled hard to redline. Must have been pulling timing.
