Helmet recommendations?

I'm going to a DE track day for the first time with the TT. What type, brand, place to buy, etc do you guys recommend for a helmet?
Thanks,
-Glen

If you are doing an occasional DE, I would buy a Bell. They have some affordable SA00 models to choose from.

KPV had a good brand name (I forgot) - unique designs...
Bike helmets have more color/character than those plain white Bells IMO

The SA 05 spec is right around the corner and there is a difference between motorcycle (M) and special application/auto (SA) helmets. Make sure you get the right one as some groups do not allow motorcycle helmets. Try on as many as you can, they all fit different. I currently use a Bell Vortex and also own a Bell M2.

i have a helmet from Impact Racing which is Bill Simpson's new company. It is by far the most comfy helmet i have found...a bit pricey though.

The best and lightest helmet is the Stand 21. But, at $1000, it's certainly not cheap.

But then again, is your head worth $1000?

that argument is one of my biggest pet peaves yet on every online forum, whenever there is a helmet question, someone has to bring it up.

It's complete bull****. Once you pass about $150 (maybe slightly more) you're basically just buying comfort and features. There is little to no extra safety benefit. There may be a point at which the safety gaps up quite a bit again, for example possibly michael schummacher's helmet is a lot safer than my $500 Impact Racing helmet, but that point is certainly not at $1000.
