Tip and stick drivers questionaire
Tip and stick drivers questionaire
Tip drivers:
Do you leave it in auto 90% of the time when you're just going from point A-B, especially in traffic or around town?
Do you wish you had gotten a stick instead?
Miss the heel-n-toe?
Can you not drive a stick?
Does the miniscule power sap bothers you?
------------------------------------------
Stick drivers:
Do you sometimes wish you had gotten a tip instead?
Are you getting tired of the first gear?
I'm beginning to, especially during busy commutes or when I simply want to nail this guy at the stop light until the next block.

Didn't have a choise because all the tt's inbound to the dealer, at the time, were tips so I got a great deal on my 02 targa trade-in for the tt TIP that I got if I got it instead of ordering a 6 speed.
Do I regret getting the tip? 20% of the time I do wish it was a 6 speed but the rest of the time, the tip makes up for it in heavy traffic and all around capability.
Would I get another tip? I don't think so, unless an F1 type transmission becomes available.
I do leave it in auto mode because I hate the way the tip buttons are positioned on the steering wheel. I prefer a padal type arrangment that does not move with the steering wheel.

Hmm sometimes I do but I was suprised how much fun the Tip is/was on the track. Even the instructors LOVED it that way.
I just heal and toe in my head and then pretend I'm palying a computer game and hence enjoy the buttons on the wheel.
I drive the EVO, which is a difficult stick to master, and am enjoying that.
What power sap:P
I think you'll have doubts one way and then the other. I'm not that impressed with the 6 speed turbo in terms of that hydraulically assited clutch and the throws without a B&M are awfully long. The GT2 clutch, which I've messed with is PERFECT.
The times I really wish I had a 6speed are when I dream of being able to perform a dyno:P

90% of the time is full Tiptronic.
10% auto ( while on the phone or holding a girl's hand
)I didnt regret getting a Tip ... because my previous manual car did NOT get enough milage, because Im too lazy to drive it to the city!! especially the steep hills/traffic... forgetaboutit!

My 1st TT was an '01 tip that I had for 2 months. I personally hated the tip and dumped it for my '02 6 speed. A SMG type gearbox would be a consideration, but I like shifting. I agree with the way-to-short 1st gear, but how else do you get a 4.0 0-60 with 3500lbs and "only" 415 HP? I have adapted to the short gear and I know when to shift now (early) so I shift close to redline. When I first got the car I kept banging the rev limiter because my previous Viper had a very long first gear.

2. No, because I wouldn't drive it near as much as I do now therefore missing out on the driving experience (which is far greater than just rowing through the gears)
3. No
4. Can drive a stick
5. Not since I upgraded the power
