CarFax reported accident
I just ran a carfax on the car I am hoping to purchase, but it came back with the following: thoughts...
New Jersey
Police Report
Case #MV2005-087 Accident reported
in Monmouth County
Involving rear impact
It hit another motor vehicle
Rear area primarily damaged

Could be nothing.
What does the seller say was damaged? Or it is a dealer and they don't know?
I suppose you could contact Monmouth and get a copy of the accident report... backtrack tot the owners name, ask them. Could be some minor paint/body. All depends on what the extent of the damage was and how it was fixed.
Did the wife back into a car at the supermarket, or did the husband spin it into oncoming traffic?
I've given up on 'perfect paint'... when stuff happens I take pictures, document the repairs, take pictures of the work being done, throw it in the car binder. Someone buying asks I will show it.

With so many choices out there (depending on what car you're looking for I suppose ...), I'd pick one with no history

Was that the red car?
As far as carfax goes, investigate it closely, my old c4s popped up with a rear end collision...only problem was, it never happened, I was the sole owner. A nightmare to get erased.

Minor damage should not be a big deal.
If it was a parking lot impact that dented or tore the bumber cover, and the part was replaced and painted correctly with absolutely no frame work, should it really matter?
