Question Brembo BBK + OEM wheels = clearance issues?

I'm really considering upgrading my front brakes to the 14" 8 piston Brembo BBK kit as I'm beginning to track the car more and more. I'll be using Nitto NT01 DOT R-compound tires on my OEM wheels for track events so I'm wondering if I'll need spacers (if so, how big) to clear the front OEM wheels. My daily rims are 19" Cargraphics so I'm thinking they should be fine, right?

Cargraphic wheels - even their 18" version - clear very big brakes.

Not sure about the stockers and Brembos. At least the stock Turbo wheels fit nicely the GT2 6-piston 350mm brakes which are also made by Brembo.

If you're going to use OEM turbo wheels, I would use the GT2 6 piston calipers with 997tt 14" rotors. They fit behind the 18" turbo wheels perfectly, and reduce brake fade. I'm very happy with mine.

That's a potential option for me as well. What's the difference in weight between the 14" 6-piston Brembo BBK vs. the 14" GT2 6-pistion with the 997TT rotors???

The Brembo 6 piston mono block kit with 350mm rotor will not fit under a stock 18, even with spacers. You need a wheel with an 18in barrel, like a BBS E88. Not sure about the 8 piston kit though. If you're not going to do enduro races stick with the 6 piston kit. It's cheapers, cools much better, is much lighter and brakes just as well or better than the 8 piston kit as long as you're not running enduros. Any 19in wheel will clear any 350mm kit. You might even be able to squeeze a 380mm kit in there.

That being said the 6 piston Porsche OEM kit will, of course, fit.

Caliper for caliper the Brembos are a slight bit lighter. The Brembo two piece floating rotor is quite a bit lighter than the OEM 997 Turbo rotor.

FWIW: The key to any of these systems is good fluid, lines and pads. I was never a fan of the stock pads, even Brembos.

if your actually serius about this call brembo race technologies in costa mesa california and have them email you the cad drawings of the kit. this is the first thing you should do. then you can measure your wheels to find out what fits (brembo tells you how to properly measure the wheels with a ruler.

No need. Take my advice. I've spoken with a Brembo advisor in person about this. Unless you're doing enduro races (more than an hour run time), the 8 piston system is useless (heavier and more expensive).

I can assure with 100% certainty the 6 piston kit will not fit under the stock 18 twist unless you go with a 320mm rotor, if they even offer that.

huh? brembo has advisors???? they have a sales rep's..... your comment about being useless un less doing endurance racing is garbage. proper cooling, pad material, rotor vain design AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE TOTAL SURFACE AREA OF THE PISTONS (contact patch on the pad) makes the differences.

and dude, i dont know who you talked to (maybe a stop tech rep j/k) but the 8 piston calipers are a heck of allot lighter than ANY GT kit brembo makes 4 or 6 piston.

Sorry Brembo sales rep. And from what he told me, the newer 6 piston monoblock kit has better cooling properties that the 8 piston kit (none GTR). Both run the same vain design.

If you're refering to the GT-R kit yes, extremely lighter. But i highly doubt we're talking about that kit as it run north of 12k.

Evo,
Is that on your Porsche or another car? Are those Enkei's? If so, do you have some specs to share? (offsets, weight, price, where you got them?)

PM me if you prefer...

Thanks in advance!!

Brembo 6piston monoblock 14inch kit DOES NOT fit under the stock turbo twist wheels. You can run the 6piston GT3 OEM brakes, those do.
