Yep. I looked at a few 996TTs and I always factor in an extra $5 to $6,000 on top of the price. $55K TT = $60K OTD with tax and license. You can do private party and have the seller put down $38K and you still pay $4K in sales tax. Not to mention, you might get audited by DMV.

buy an out of state car and keep it out of state (CA)for 90 days and there is no sales tax....use the tax savings for mods..check the BOE website, there are a few links around the net..

I wish I knew this before I bought. When I regestered the vehicle, the women that was helping me would not tell me verbably how much the tax was that I needed to pay. She said that the tax was more than some people pay for their cars. ($75,000 x 7.25% tax = $5,437.50) She printed it out and handed the paper to me after she said the previous under her breath.

Yes, true on the 90 day thing.

I wasn't going to wait though. You could always ship it to a tuner, have them upgrade it and store it for 90 days.... gives you $5k of mods.

Same thing happened to me at DMV... kind of a podunk location up here in the hills
