Short Shifter Advice

Does anyone have a preference when it comes to short shifters. Are they worth it?

B&M. Easy mod with great results. Makes stock feel like the plastic that it is.

BMW M3 and P-car 996tt are almost undrive-able (or at least not enjoyable) with stock shifter. I just installed an in-car B&M and I'm shocked by the difference. Make sure you get the Evo shift link at the same time.

Grab the UUC SSK or Rogue Engineering SSK for the M3. I have the UUC and it's awesome! (Don't forget the cartridge bearing upgrade).

For my TT Cab, I got the B&M Under-Car kit as recommended by Poursha. From what I've read, it shortens the throws just as much as the more expensive in-car kit, but isn't as notchy. Also, it's an easier install and I don't have to worry about the mechanic scratching my painted centre console.

Does the Evo shift link make that much of a difference?

How many of you guys with the shift kits are hard core autocrossers or trackers?

Can you elaborate? What does it do and what differences does it make beyond the SSK?

The OEM cable-to-shifter connection is a plastic piece that has a soft rubber bushing that the ball end of the shifter is inserted into. When the shifter is moved, there is obviously pressure placed on the rubber bushing by the ball end of the shifter. This results in play, and "soft" shift gates since there isn't a hard stop at the end of the gear throw. The ShiftLink has a hard plastic bushing in place of the OEM rubber bushing...there is no "give" at all when you move the shifter. When you shift gears there is a rock solid "stop" at the end of the throw.

The ShiftLink really complements the characteristics of the B&M shifter, making all shifts feel like you are bolting a rifle.
