Top Gear Tests the Nissan GTR - Stigs time...
That is EXACTLY what I was doing. But obviously some idiots out there can't get it...
And Dez, You my friend are dead on with your assessment of the GT-R in a track-like scenario. We will NOT see many of them on track. No, by and large the average buyer will purchase one to sit in his garage and brag about what it supposedly can do, without ever being able to do it, for lack of talent, money or both.
Bravo, Nissan, BRAVO!
And good luck with that NASA research...

The only track report I've read on NAGTROC of a personal car, he seemed happy with the track performance, but what caught my eye was when he finally got a clear track to make a fast lap, at the end the oil got hot enough the car went into the limp mode.

It also has lots of squeaks and rattles appearantly from things jarring loose. So much for "Porsche build quality".
Despite the mag times, we still see less and less fanboys by the day, wonder why.
And Don't you forget it!!!

So when you get yours, and get it onto a track, be sure and post up your experiences... Oh wait, I don't recall reading about any track exploits from you, N' Ire, so I guess we know which category that lumps you in!

Sepang racetrack (F1 circuit) is just around the corner from where I live (well around 3 hours drive).
There are a group of guys called The Traction Circle that run track days there every month. We see everything from Lambo Superlegerras, Porsche Carrera Cups, Enzos to the regular run of the mill Porsche's (oh yes last track day we had an awesome orange 997 Gemballa Avalanche there too). And to date we have had 6 GTRs hit up Sepang (all from Singapore, and considering that only 10 odd have been delivered to owners in Singapore thats a pretty high percentage, granted a small sample size).
But what is interesting is that all of them kept up very well with us Porsche guys including one of our friends who was out testing his cup car- he also happens to be one of the most accomplished amateur Cup racers in Asia. There was one that absolutely spanked most of us off the track and it was his first time out in the GTR (he also owns a Scuderia 430). And he timed almost the same time in the GTR first time out compared to his Scud.
On average, there are quite a few GTRs on the track at any time, and interestingly we have seen no problems with these yet (all delivered with the Mines ECU).
So please, have an opinion, but keep the arguments logical, rather than fear what we dont understand or dont want to know about. Lets leave the fan boy fanaticism to the other forums. Peace bud.

It's real simple Tool, Try Mikelly996TT on youtube and you can see all my incar footage... Of course you have what evidence of being on a track anywhere?
You must be another one of those fast and furious nutswingers who thinks that car will make you something special...

Harold, I fully appreciate what you and a few others are saying and I certainly don't lump you in with some of these idiots who post their drivel.
Bottom line is what Dez posted is exactly what I'd be concerned about if I bought one. I don't buy sports cars to sit them in the garage and polish. I track them. That's my single focus on owning sports cars. If I can't track it, It doesn't stay in my garage.

Mike, I fully appreciate your opinion. But its another thing to make blind generalisations without even giving the car a chance.

For now I reserve my judgement on the car but must say I am pretty impressed. Having said that the TT aint going up for sale any time soon
The nissan is very nice.....I cannot afford a huge bill to fix brakes if it is over 2k to do and the car weighs ~4000 lbs.... But, it is perhaps a superior weekend warrior car (trunk and bigger back seats.....and awd for snow). So, I plan to watch and wait.
I am also highly worried about long term "affordability"...all cars break and the GT-R is sort of a mainframe on wheels.

Competitive? You have got to be kidding me the GTR got slapped arounds between the three proven powerhouse.
Here I was thinking that the GTR competes with the Zonda's, ZR1, and CGT's of the world. The penny drops, Nissans hype drops along with the penny.
i'm glad theres someone on this thread with a bit of sense (Harold)!! Someone who does't just talk about how he is on you tube and how fast he is here and there, and about how other people can't afford cars and can't drive on track and etc etc etc etc RKelly oh sorry Mkelly Wake up and smell the coffee, the penny should drop The gtr is quick and you are an idiot, yo yo oh yes!!
