Exhaust options

Yet another exhaust-thread... But some new (?) criterias this time:

Important:
Light as possible (want to save weight for the track)
NOT loud.

Would be nice:
no drone
good looking (love the look of my RUF exhaust)

Reason for changing? My RUF exhaust is too loud for my local track Any ideas of a perfect exhaust for me?

Thumbs up

Europipe is my vote. Go with the EP Loud 2. It really is not loud at all.

The problem with europipe is that it's very heavy. Also, it was my understanding that ruf is one of the most quiet exhausts. You could consider the new quiet (60mm) speedtech exhaust or awe would also be a good choice.

The BBi Autosport exhaust system is pretty hard to beat.

The EP is the same weight as stock, but the sound and craftsmanship are great.

Another vote for EP....but decide what you want to do down the road. Their Stage 1 uses 60mm piping...the Stage 2 uses 70mm...so depending upon how far you want to go with your HP upgrades will have an impact on which Stage you go to. Under 600 and you're ok with Stage 1.

But I believe you can still compromise. I will be using the ORIGINAL (yep... original) Porsche exhaust with Todd's PE700 kit. Todd has promised me the car will still run strong but obviously there will be some compromise.

Time will tell, but for me drone is a major killing point given I run a tip, and I really want the car quiet so I will be using the original exhaust (have been using the Fabspeed gen 1 with my IA 750 kit but really couldnt take the loudness any more).

So, as long as you are happy to compromise on absolute performance, I believe that you can run a quieter exhaust and still go up the performance tree.

Kevin at UMW makes a great sounding free flow exhaust. Check it out.

For folks who say the EIP is too heavy...I guess it depends upon what weight threshold you are looking for or want to try to stay within, and what you've done to trim weight off the car. Too frequently I see folks buying lighter rims for astronomical costs, but still leaving in the other items that cause weight. If you want the car to seriously go on a diet, one or two items aren't going to cut it much. I weighed my car the other day out of curiosity and with a half tank of gas...it weighed 3518 pounds. Now I thought that was pretty good for an AWD vehicle...and by taking out the spare and doing a few other things, I could probably make a much better impact on the weight....but that isn't something I'm particularly concerned about.

I use FVD titanium race muffler. Really great sound and weight is only 7 kg. FVD guarantees a horse power gain of 35 hk.
