Question Which shift kit is closest to GT3 feel?

* B&M in car
* B&M or Porsche under car
* EVO Swift Shift (includes Shift Link + other parts to change throw)
* other?

The GT3 is all I have to compare with, and I liked the more positive feel (more effort) and shorter throw, want to try and get TT as close as possible to that, Thanks

I would say the B&M under car and in car is the best combo. Trying all three could cause a problem, as a few members here have reported before.

you want short?
You want precise?
You want perfection?
You want positive feel?
Why not just pop for the sequential shifter?

look here

I believe the GT2, GT3, and 996TT use then same plastic in car shifter. The shorter throws on the GT cars must be shorter lever arms on the transmission. This is what the undercar shifter accomplishes on the 996TT.

From what I understand... the GT3 is 15% shorter on the tranny end. The inside shifter is the same regardless of the car its in. To get the same as the GT3, I would think the under car shifter set at a 15% reduction.

I don't think there is any reasonabe chance that someone with a B&M would have any problems with their dealer.

Arling is right, the OEM short shifter with the complete base is the ONLY way to go.

It is very much like the GT3 shifter, only shorter throw.

I used to think the B&M and OEM were the same... not even close.

really, i only notice subtle differences between the OEM and the B&M, they both are nice. if the prices are relatively the same then OEM is where it's at. for anything else, doesn't make a huge difference, it's just a matter of getting used to your shifter. on a mod like this, i would say "it's not the car, it's the driver"....

Yes, but the OEM base install is much cleaner and you don't have to break the stock parts.

OEM is the way to go. The subtle differences that you refer to are where the differences lie. There is even a noticeable difference in feel between the old OEM unit and the new one.

Don't go cheap on your Porsche.

well said, ty. but i have seen the B&M and i believe it is extremely well made. infact much better made than a stock shifter. cheap has nothing to do with it, B&M is not cheap. if it is price your are refering to than why spend more just because they is something out there that cost more. that is not being cheap, but rather sensible. no?

Anyone sell the factory SSK for a more reasonable price than the dealer? Also, anyone consider cutting some length off of the stock shifter to shorten the throw? Would there be any problems reattaching the shift ****? TIA

Arling and I have looked at different shifters and we both agree that the OEM one with the complete base was the best way to go.

The B&M unit is a bit too notchy for my taste.
