This option is still available to every EPL customer (6 speed only), along with left-foot braking (6-speed and Tip). Shoot us an email and we'll get you setup with another file!

may be a silly question but would this work at say 5300 +/- and starting in second gear?? to avoid immediate shift from 1st to 2nd?

Its definitely possible to try, but I don't believe it'll work to your advantage. I've tried this on a few occasions for fun on the track with a 2200lb 400+ front wheel horsepower VW. Bogged second very bad even with significant boost. 15.8@ 118MPH is not what I would call successful .

1st gear is pretty long in the 996s, and everyone drives different/every car is different so it's hard to make a broad statement of what works, but if you seem like you're shifting really fast into second, you may want to ride the wheel-spin out a little longer before you shift. Launching in second might work on the street, but if your tires can grab at the track, you still run the risk of just bogging the launch. If you find that launching in 2nd works better for you, the launch control will work in any gear you want!
