Ricer or not. I like the Woooosh sound.
Yes. Contact vivid racing. I believe they sell a product. Although I think it's more trouble than its worth.

vivid said..

: you need to run diff software to run a bov prop.. car will stumble or stall.. car needs software+tuning to adjust with the BOV... the car does meter what it lets out.. reads what gets sucked in, and sucked out.. The air idle control valve doesnt see the air it needs, and causes stalling.. Performance of DV is quicker response, and recommended. Allthough with tuning BOV's work great as well.

So basically everyone is right, but the car just needs programmed to run a bov.

Now contact a good Motronic tuner and see what they say about running DVs vs. BOVs. We'll be back to post #2 of this thread.

So you get all your information from Wikipedia and my mom, no wonder you're clueless.

when i had to change my DVs I just ended up using Vivid's concept with a BOV i had sitting. i did it 50/50, from my observation it works just as well as DVs if not better. u can't do 100 on the BOV cuz it will run rich and blow a CEL. has been working great for the past 5 months. very easy install to the F hose

Simple....If you have a blow through MAF...(located after the turbo) you can vent to the atmospher = BOV . In a 996 Turbo the air gets metered before it enters the turbos, therefore it has to be recirculated= Diverter Valves or "Bypass Valves" as others call it.

i believe MAF sensor engines shouldnt run vented BOV because of the reason stated in Post #2, Map sensored vehicles can run vented BOV becuase the vented air isnt accounted for until it reaches the intake manifold.
hope that helps a bit
As far as I know MAP is a totally different sensor responsible for measuring the difference in the absolute pressure inside of the mainfold vs outside. (correct me if I'm wrong). It has nothing to do with measureing the volume of air entering the engine.

The other type of management system other than MAF is SD = Speed Density but I strongly believe that it is used strictly on NA engines without any type of forced induction, as it uses predetermined maps and doesn't do any calculations based on the volume of air entering the engine..
