As with many of your posts, GREAT info, and good comment about people wanting to "buy something"... I think you're spot on there...

I feel people just WANT to buy SOMETHING that makes them feel good when they look under the hood. Heck, people will exchange a factory airbox that is designed to suck cooler air from outside the engine compartment for a cone system that sits in the hot air under the hood...these systems loose power compared to stock. But I am getting OT...

Here is a very interesting test:

While K&N claims that are 'within 1%', when you compare say 99.9% to 98.9%, that "1%" can be TEN TIMES more particulates getting past!

For engines that are raced, and rebuilt regularly, who cares? Give me paper filters and I'll just replace them with every other oil change.

EvoSlayer is on a distinguished road
I had a K&N and it blew the maf straight away and caused the boost pressure regulator to throw an error putting the car into safe mode. Put original filter back in and everything ok again - Oh well you live and learn. I now run a BMC filter with no problems at all - but can you really feel a difference- no not really... don't believe the hype! The only time you feel a difference is when it causes something else to break!

well if you buy a K&N just soak in in detergent (washing up liquid) in a bucket overnight, rinse and dry thoroughly before installing

Does the K&N really weigh that much? Your avatar photo shows the car's front wheels off the ground!!
