DIY: Exhaust removal and Race Precision RPI install

Here is my quick and dirty picture series on exhaust removal and install of my new RPI exhaust. A big thanks goes out to Ard, Porschedude996TT(he has an awesome and detailed write up) and others who helped me figure it out.

I love my new RPI exhaust.
Positives: Noticeable increase in power. I even broke the rear tires loose on hard acceleration. Never did that before prior to this install. Nice exotic sound beginning around 3200rpm increasing to redline. Sweet spot at 3000rpm for cruising not loud and very quiet at Idle.
Negatives: Droan starts around 1500rpm increases to max at around 2000 and decreases to 2700rpm where it pretty much disappears.

All in all a good investment in my opinion

So in all the DIYs I had read, I never saw a picture or read a discussion on these straps and how they 'thread' up through the fixed brackets- you need to loosen the strap and dramatically slide it sideways to get it clear of the bracket. Since the brackets on the muffler and the brackets on the car 'interdigitate' it is not enough to just loosen it.

If these are your 'quick and dirty' pictures, I'd love to see the good ones!

Nice work

A

wow, nice write up. Thanks for taking the time to post pics and documenting everything. I gotta say, your car is CLEAN. When I installed my exhaust, it was all dirty and rusty.

Thank you

Kelly, thanks again for posting up the DIY. I'm glad you're enjoying the new exhaust.

Hopefully Kelly can post up a video from the interior. Unfortunately, I don't have any from inside, but here are a few clips form the outside.

Very happy with the exhaust. Noticeable increase in power. It reminds me of my Honda CR250 2 stroke and its big modified exhaust and the added power caused by the expansion of gases and correct hormonics of the FMF exhaust. The Sound and horse power seem to be tied together. The drone not so bad and is less when the system warms up.

Happy the pictures help. I pretty much cover the list of tools in the pictures.
