Motiv Bleeder for the Hydraulic clutch??? Anyone Done it???
Motiv Bleeder for the Hydraulic clutch??? Anyone Done it???
Guys, I'm getting ready to bleed the clutch system and wanted to know if anyone has used their brake bleeder to bleed the clutch system with? I'm not using it to add fluid, just to pressurize the system... I plan to take my motiv, rinse it with water to flush out any brake fluid, then air dry it with my compressor.
I noticed today when flushing the underside of the car with water that the accumulator was loose enough to see several exposed threads. When I tried to remove the cap on the p/s reservoir, it was vacuum locked on... took a fair amount of force to loosen it, and the cap on the clutch master... I imagine I have a ton of air in the system... Ugh...
surprisingly, the system wasn't very low on Pentosin.

Mike. I did used the Motive bleeder on two different TT and it work like a charm. I did not fill it with oil, only use it to pressurized the reservoir. but I had to keep an eye on the fluid level and refill the reservoir three times.... I pump it up to 25 pounds and keep it over 15 for the bleeding process.... Hope this help...

Who/What broke your tranny?
I'll answer both those questions for you...
On the MOTIV, there's a rubber seal in the cap. Pentosin HF202 is the stuff used in the Clutch Hydraulic system and that stuff eats rubber like no body's business... SOOOOO if you use the motiv to bleed the clutch system you'll have to rinse the seal in water (flushing the pentosin off completely) to insure you don't damage the seal, or risk having to replace the seal!
In my car, the trans was notchy from day one (we suspect from previous owner not properly installing a B&M shifter). Then I went and did this at the drag strip:

and I did a bunch of this over 2.5 years of use:

And finally the car just wouldn't shift into first without a lot of noise...
So it's getting "upgrades" to the tune of about $8K...
Should have it back in 2-3 weeks!
