Well, having owned both at the same time.....I will say that my modded M5 (550 HP) vrs my Modded TT (600hp) was not even close.....my TT would just walk the M5.....Hell...... with the TT at 600hp.....about the only things I considered competition (that I ever ran across) was Modded Evos, Sti's and fast motorcycles....

That has to be some REALLY seriously modded evos to match with a 600hp tt.

I have seen many Evo's and Sti's that crank 1/4's in the low 10's. I think a big part of it is their gearing. They run through all their gears in the 1/4 (5th) while we run through 4th at best in stock form.

M5's are great cars. They have like 5 sport settings 2 axle settings, blah, blah. I was surprised when top gear tested them and they broke the rear axle on one test and had they same issue on the second test.

"robert you are the man !!! your car is such a monster "

I've seen his car and yes... it is a monster! It's a testament that if you just tune these cars properly... can really be a huge difference.. TurboS don't hurt either. :P

Raced against my brother's M5 SMG and me in my TT tip. Both rolling at 25 mph, on the 3rd honk, we both took off. We were both in 2nd, and my car pulled/ jumped ahead (a bit faster reaction time on my part) to about 1 car length. The M5 stayed, and then very slowly gaining a bit till we shut down at about 110ish mph. I took the win but both cars are very even. I had 19" i-forged w/ no mods and his M5 was bone stock.

Nice kill as always, Porsches rule

M5s modded or not are great very fast cars. A good friend took me for a really evil ride in his new M5 and I was shocked and impressed. Really nice sedan in every way and sickly quick.

But the M5 is the size of a Panzer tank, it's a sports sedan not a sports car like a Porsche. It's always fun to win & I'm always grinning when a Porsche wins anything. But truthfully it doesn't matter how fast the things are, they are behemoths--great Autobahn cruisers.

I know this will potentially cause trouble and I apologize in advance to those of you who are desperately paying $10K above sticker or whatever--but I finally managed to see a GTR in the flesh this week. I know they are quick as heck, state of the art--but there's a lot of flesh there or sheet metal. They are big, big bruisers and perhaps fall somewhere between an M5 and a Porsche. No offense intended. These are all amazing cars--all of which I want in my garage right now. That will have to wait. jaj

Your 19's must be slowing you down a bit.

I went down to the Newport for dinner last night and stopped by "Mexico" on the way home... I ran a modded STI and pretty much obliterated him from 70mph up to about 150 (didn't even see him after awhile)...

I then came across a modded Lightning truck... That thing pulled well up to about 110 and then I kinda ran away from him. I was still impressed by the truck between 60 and 110, I was barely pulling on him for a few seconds until 100+ and then it was no comparison...

I'm an EVO Stage 4+ running Hitachi MAF and EVOMSit.

On a side note, I can now get over 20mpg cruising at normal highway speeds since the Hitachi and software swap, LOL... They said that was the case and it's true!

M5's are Battle cruisers. They do battle and keep up with many faster cars on the road. Its incomparable to a modded TT.
