another m5 kill
another m5 kill
a new m5 pulled up next to me at the light. He suprised me and gunned it. I was in 2nd going slow. He had about 1 1/2 car lengths on me by the time i got on it. I caught and passed him by 100mph and shut it down soon after with about 1 car length advantage at around 110mph.
My car is definately faster, but i was suprised it was that close. Those cars are pretty damn fast for big four door sedans!

I'd expect a stock 996TT killing an M5 without any problem... You were in second. He got the jump on you. You had to run him down... None of this was equal or properly staged...
Oh, and your car is modded...

in response to the questions, my car is about 510 crank hp. I assume the m5 was stock, as most are, since they are not as mod friendly as the 996tt.
mikelly, your right, it was not properly staged. I was in the wrong gear and he had a head start. It wouldn't have been that close if it was properly staged since the turbo is much quicker out of the hole (0-60).
we we're just playing around and i wanted people with stage 2 cars (chip,dv,and exhaust) to know how they would fair against an m5.

in this particular case, the modded turbo must be running very strong for you to spot him a head start and then pull a car over less than a quarter mile.
I ran an M5 (he had an exhaust) not long ago, off a 1st gear roll and it wasn't that close... i'm a stage 2 with a plenum, and had him by almost 2 cars by the time i was midway through 2nd gear and my car kept pulling slowly as we got to about 130mph (i was probably about 4 ~ 5 cars by that point)... i don't think it should be "close" but those are fast cars given the size and weight...
I think a stock TT and a stock M5 would be too close to call in a 0 to 100 race especially if the M5 has SMG. The shifts would be much faster than the turbo. As Mr. Kram says, it would be a driver's race and the results could go either way.
Of course, the 996tt is all wheel drive...
Here is a video of a modded M5, modded (700HP) M3 and my 05 TT S Cab with a flash and clutch.
