k24/18g guys...any blown mafs with OEM box?
Hello there...Is there any hp limit at the oem maf? When k24/18 turbos are used with injectors and oem airbox, should the mafs be blown?Or they are blown only with other airboxes?
From my recent experience with K24/18G's, 60 Lb. injectors, full 70mm intake plumbing and 75mm TB...
1) stock air box no problem.
2) V-Flow...blew 2 OEM MAF's in less than 5 miles.
3) Stock air box with dual snorkel and BMC filter...no problem.
I like the dual snorkel with BMC filter - it sounds great when it sucks the air in and the car runs very well with it.

I run about 1.18 bar as an every day setting and have no problems at this level. We dynoed with race fuel and after running 1.27 bar on the dyno, we turned the boost up a bit more, but hit 1.35 bar throttle body shutdown. On that run the torque went to 620 before the shutdown and that is getting beyond what some consider a "safe" limit, so we stopped with the 1.27 bar / 610 AWT run and called it a day. We made a few dyno runs at 1.25, 1.27 bar with race fuel and had no MAF problems, but I have no extended use at this level of boost. The car made 550 AWHP and 610 AWT at 1.27 bar on a Mustang dyno.

Thanks for your replies...i believe i should get back to stock oem airbox...you see i do not look to power levels beyond this level (650-670hp)so i need to know if stock maf is good for that or hitachi is needed...Car runs awesome, just blows mafs from time to time...
