Holy White Smokes!

So i changed the oil on saturday. Mobil 1 0W40. put 8.5 quarts in. Now everytime i cold start the car, a HUGE puff of white smoke comes out. Whenever the turbines are engaged, it spits out a puff of white smoke too. Whilst the idea of a smoke screen while accelerating is cool, i doubt that it is something positive for the car.

can anyone shed some light on this. Have i done something wrong?

sounds like you overfilled.
I would drain the oil out of the block and see how your oil level is. Since there is only minimal oil stored in it.

I didn't know the 996 has 4 drain plugs. 997 GT3 has only 2.

The turbo's hold only a small amount. It shouldn't be that bad. What is the oil gauge reading at?
