$75k for a 996TT w/ 9kmiles - a good deal?

I've come across a person that wants to sell his 2001 996TT with the least amount of trouble without giving it away. He's very well off and mostly just wants to get rid of the car so he probably wouldnt flinch if an offer of a few thousand off low blue book came along. My questrion is would $75k be considered a really good deal? Being that the 997s are on their way and that they made a bunch of these 996TTs , is this reasonable? There are a lot of TT's for sale too.

TIA,

Mike

It sounds like a good deal, but what year is the car? Color combo? Tip or 6 speed? Options?

It's a 2001 996TT, Black/Black, 6-speed, bone stock except for a premium aftermarket stereo with 9k miles. The engine was swapped underwarranty due to a factory fault issue, not because of his driving. He took care of it. He didnt drive it like a grandma, but still made sure he idled down and didnt ever dump the clutch. It has the basic in dash cd player, no gps or anything like that.

I say its a good deal and would go for it as long as its in good condition, similar cars are going for high 70's. So its a good buy, I would go for it.

engine swap is bad for resale, not to mention the ghey rubber bumpers on the front. sounds like a good deal though, make him put an 02 front on.

swap will hurt resale but I think it'd be a plus to buy a car w/ a newer motor. Also is the motor given an extended warranty?

Generally you get the 4yr/50,000 mile warranty the day the new motor is installed.

Thanks for the all the replies. The motor was swapped fairly early. I think he was just finished with break-in on the first motor before he had to swap for the second one.

FYI a new motor, like any new part from Porsche, gets a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. So find out when the new engine was put in.

this happened to my Dad's '03 C4S too, I almost forgot. he was driving on the freeway, and all of a sudden the engine just shut off (similar to what had happened to the BMW 8 cylinder engines this year) and the car was immobile. luckily he could pull off the freeway safely, and have the car towed to Porsche. They just put a new motor in the car for him, and gave him some kind of 2 year warranty I think.

I love Porsche, but this is kind of a scary issue.
