, (not sure why I'm laughing, this is actually very sad. This thread has degraded to the loss of finances of a board member with another member laughing at him)

I'd d/w a builder the plus/minus issues of fixing things v a brand new unit.

How much collateral damage was there/could there have been?

Yes... actually here's the update! I purchased a used engine w/8,000 miles from Loren Beggs @ 911 Design. I'm sending him my old core and he told me he'll open it up and send me some pictures & broken parts. I wanted to rebuild it... but didn't want the down time. It does get cold here in Oklahoma, but most days during the winter I could drive my car.

I pulled the spark plugs out last night thinking they would give me a clue to what happen to the motor. They all looked fine... then upon closer inspection I found that three of the six plugs had the porcelain broken on the electrode and slid all the way down to the tip. The consensus seems to be the car detonated and caused this. I will keep you all posted when I know more!

I've found them at a high of 21.5K for a new create engine rebuilt from Porsche and a few used engines from 12K exchange - 17K. Not cheap at any rate
