Sorry to bring this back, but I am interested as well.... I am at around 18K miles and clutch is still grabbing great, but has a wierd pedal feel... I am replacing it soon for the shootout anyway, but just curious how long everyone is getting outta the stock clutch.

I'm glad this is being discussed. I have been driving manual cars since I was 16 and I still feel like I have not mastered this clutch. In high RPM's when I put my foot on the clutch pedal I can feel moderate to severe vibration. This only happens when the RPM's are 4500 and above. Is this normal or is this a sign of clutch probelms?

I have 35k miles and the clutch still feels like day one. Most durable clutch I've ever had.

Anybody experience vibration in the clutch pedal at high RPM's? Is this a sgn of a clutch problem?

My 996TT has over 185'000 km, including lots of track-days, and still on the original clutch.

Ha... as soon as I saw this thread and the options, I was going to say "Pierre would disagree," and then I saw your post, how ironic

It's not that I disagree, but I just can't found the correct option to vote for...

Maybe it's a sign of driver problem too?

I don't understand why such a big percentage have to replace their clutch around 20k. User abuse?

Collin, this high percentage doesn't mean much with only 11 answers in total so far.

Grüezi Pierre,

I think your clutch seems to last so long because you spend more time cruising on the hiway across countries than others, correct? Your gear changes over the miles probably don't amount to that much more than regular urban driving.

Grüezi Collin !

Of course, a big part of theses 185'000 km were on the hiway. But I do quite a lot of mountain driving, and roughly 15-20 track-days per year. Since I try not to engage the cruise control during this kind of driving, a few gear changes are required...

But you sure have a point. Urban driving might be harder on the clutch than track-driving. More stop and go's, and probably more clutch slip. Probably depends on the driver's habits too.

Und tschüss!
--Pierre
