Did 2005 996TT come with X50 package

A local dealer claims to have a 05 with X50 package, when I looked at it the build date was 07/04. but car is registered as 2005? Can someone help decipher this for me, I thought all 05 X50s were really a TurboS?

BTW, here is a link to it.

In 2005 the "X-50" was not an option, it was known as a Turbo S.

This is a used car lot at a mercedes dealership, right? They probably have no idea what is on the car.

It is widely assumed that all 2005s were turbo S, and had X50 and PCCBs. But this car doesn't have the S badge...strange...7/2004 seems very early for a 2005 build...

Have you asked a P dealer to run the VIN and tell you what order options are on the car? (THis is not asking for owner info or service info- just order status.) You can also take a picture of the underside of the hood and decode the options...

The car was listed at $97k with 6500 miles.... then at $89k at 9200 miles, now $77k.. same dealer. WHo's been joyriding the stock, or did someone buy it from them for the summer and trade it back this fall? (Google the vin and look at the cached pages.)

The range in pricing for these cars is breathtaking at the present time.

A

This is prob an 04 with the X50 package. If it was an 05 it would have been an S.

This is a reputable dealer, I have dealt with them before.

check under the hood for the "paper sticker build sheet". does it say X50? also reach in and feel the intercoolers...if they have raised ridges they are X50 intercoolers. hope that helps

Everyone is pretty on the $. But the intercoolers could have been added later. ard found something interesting. Could still be good though. What I would do is take the vin and ask the service or parts dep. at your local dealer for the build sheet or info. If you can't get help let me know.

Dont a lot of factory dealerships re-vin the car if let's say it's an 04 but they didn't sell in in 03, to make it into 05 with the new year? I've heard about this from somewhere.

These people have no idea what they are talking about. This one is either a 2004 996TTCAB with X50 package or a 2005 99TTCAB NON S model. I live a couple of miles away from this place, if you need help with it let me know. Regarless of what model it is, it is a decent price for what it is for this area!

The 2005 order guide does not show a "non-S" model... based on common knowldege all 2005s were "S". And this car is clearly a 2005.

Someone needs to run the build sheet with a Porsche dealer...

Inquiring minds want to know...

Guys,
I checked out the VIN and it is definitely an 05, additionally, based on the rec from dublinoh I checked the bottom of the hood and say X50 as an option. I have yet to get a chance to run the VIN at a Porsche dealer.

But thanks for all your info and help. I may take 996TTSCAB on his offer and go to the dealership for another round of viewing. However as it was pointed out the 10th digit of the VIN is indicating this is an 05. As far as re-ving a car - THAT IS ILLEGAL - That one I can tell you...

Thanks Again

To answer Ard - When the car had 6800 miles it was sold, the second owner drove it to 9K miles and sold it to the dealer.
